Making Your College Choice
It's decision time! Decision day is May 1, so it is time to decide where you want to go to school. This article, from The College Essay Guy, can help guide you as you make your college decision. When you make your choice, don't forget to update it in Naviance! Some schools have pushed back their deadlines due to the problems with the FAFSA, so check for communication from your college or university to see if they have updated their Decision Day.
Resource Fair
Please consider attending our 5th annual community resource fair later this month. This fair is a great opportunity to see what types of support services are available for students with a broad range of disabilities. There will be regional agencies representing career and transition services, 3 local colleges, home-based supports, legal advisors, government agencies, Birth-PreK services, and many more! This is a great way to gather information and make connections.
*Over 45 agencies, large and small, will be in attendance from throughout the state.
The fair will be held in the CHS Cafeteria from 5-7pm on April 24th.
Financial Resources for Parents of Children with Disabilities
The PACER Center in Minnesota has put together a comprehensive website filled with a lot of important information for parents of students who have disabilities. They discuss topics including family relationships and planning for your child's future. This guide, in particular, discusses financial resources for parents of children with disabilities.

FAFSA Information
Unusual Circumstances and Filing the FAFSA
If your circumstances resulted in you not having a safe, stable place to live, you may be considered a homeless youth.
If none of the above unusual circumstances apply and you do not meet the other criteria for an independent student, you must provide parent information on your FAFSA form. This is true even if you don’t live with your parent, your parent isn’t paying your college expenses, or your parent doesn’t claim you as a dependent on their taxes.
If your parents are unwilling to provide their information, but you don’t have an unusual circumstance that prevents you from contacting them or obtaining their information, provide all student information and skip any questions about your parents. If you wish to apply only for a limited amount of Direct Unsubsidized Loan, you may continue to submit your FAFSA form, but your Student Aid Index (SAI) will not be calculated without your parents’ information.
