Re: Important Announcement: New Nurse Supervisor
Dear MESD Community,
We are excited to announce that Courtney Szper will be transitioning to a new role within the Multnomah Education Service District (MESD). Courtney has worked with MESD for the last four years as a building nurse in K-12 schools within the Portland Public School District and MESD program schools. Prior to working at MESD, she worked as a nurse in the community and acute care/hospital settings. In the community, she worked as an ACT nurse on an interdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. This fall, Courtney will step in as Nurse Supervisor.
Her passion is meeting people where they are at, striving for equity-centered trauma-informed care for all and providing whole-person care that addresses social and structural determinants of health. Prior to becoming a nurse, she worked as an Operations Manager and General Manager in addition to working as the Head Age-Group coach for a USA Swimming and collegiate swim team, working with athletes at all levels from novice to Olympic trials.
In her spare time she is pursuing her masters degree in nursing education at OHSU with an emphasis in community health (and enjoying it), runs a March Madness bracket every year (but rarely wins), throws a bunch of vegetable seeds into the ground every spring (and promptly ignores them -some actually grow), has competed in olympic distance triathlons (but has a goal of never running a marathon), genuinely loves eating vegetables (and popcorn), enjoys games and puzzles (Settlers anyone? Five crowns?), and reads a book for pleasure every now and again. She is excited to continue working with MESD to remove health related barriers to education and for the opportunity to continue to work with MESD and our component districts.
Please join me in congratulating Courtney Szper on her new role and in expressing our gratitude for her continued commitment to MESD and the students we serve.
Sincerely,
Todd Greaves
