Tuesday Times from Elm Grove
Principal's Message
Tuesday, October 29, 2024
Dear Eagle Families,
Thank you to all our wonderful parents for the delicious luncheon provided for our staff last week! The food was truly heartwarming and greatly appreciated. As a quick reminder, students will not have school on November 1st, 4th, and 5th. We hope you all enjoy a safe and fun-filled long weekend!
Attendance
Our school attendance took a slight dip last week to 95.29%, but we’re excited to see our students working hard to be here every day! A big shout-out goes to our 1st graders, who led the way with the highest attendance at 97.27%! Thank you for your continued support in helping us reach our attendance goals.
Tardies
Instruction begins promptly each day at 7:30 AM, and many classrooms start the day with essential phonics and reading lessons. When students arrive late, they miss out on valuable learning time that supports their reading development. Thank you for your continued efforts to ensure your child arrives on time each day—we appreciate your partnership in helping them succeed!
Angel Tree
We are looking for generous donors to help support our Hays CISD Angel Tree this year. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring holiday cheer to families in need within our district. If you’re interested in adopting a Hays CISD family, please see the attached flyers for more details and complete the Google Form linked below. Your kindness can make a big difference this holiday season!
Lost and Found
If your child is missing any belongings, please stop by and check the items hanging on the playground fence. We have quite a collection of jackets and other items looking for their owners.
Have a wonderful week!

Hays CISD Gifted and Talented Referral Period
Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. These skills are often evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity. Furthermore, these skills are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.
Hays CISD campuses will accept referrals for gifted and talented services from October 1 - 31. Referrals can be made in two different ways. The first option is to complete an online referral at THIS LINK. The second option is to complete a paper referral. Copies of the paper referral form are available in the front office of each campus and should be returned to the campus counselor.
Assessments will be conducted from November through January. Evaluation of student data and selection of services occur in February. Parents are notified by email in March of the final determination of services.
On September 25, a parent meeting was held to provide an overview of the characteristics of gifted students, the referral and assessment timeline and procedures, and Hays CISD’s gifted service design. To view the presentation in English, click on THIS LINK. To view the presentation in Spanish click on THIS LINK.
If your child is already identified as G/T, he/she does not need to be reassessed. If you have any questions contact Tish Cawley at tish.cawley@hayscisd.net or 512-268-2141 x45035.
