KMS Friday Principal's Press

Friday, November 1, 2024
Happy Friday! Here is some important information from KMS:
Thank You, Parent Volunteers!
A special thank you to parents who volunteered on the 8th grade field trip to Washington DC this past week. We couldn't do the trip without you.
There will be many future opportunities to volunteer (e.g., school trips, dances, help w/ PSSAs, etc.) so please be sure to submit your clearances to the district if you are interested in volunteering. All volunteers must be approved by KCSD.
More Field Trips Around The Corner:
The 6th Grade will head to the Philadelphia Zoo on Tuesday, 11/19. Parents who requested to be a chaperone will be notified by Friday, November 8th.
Students in KMS's Multilingual Academy will be visiting the Plumpton Zoo in Maryland on Friday, November 8.
Let's Get Ready For Winter Sports:
Fall Parent Teacher Conferences Update:

For families who do not have a scheduled conference but are interested in meeting with one of their child's teachers, our Skyward Conference Scheduler will go live for families on Monday, October 28th. Here are directions for how to reserve a time slot.

KMS Yearbook Sales - Reserve Yours Today!
Parents, this is what happens every spring. Yearbooks arrive and we distribute them. Kids start looking at each other's yearbooks. Then, 250 kids run to the office looking to buy one now that they've seen their friends.
Unfortunately, we only order a handful of extra yearbooks so we have to turn these kids away every year.
But....you can help! Act now! Yearbooks are $20 if ordered before March 31, 2025. Order online at www.strawbridge.net for additional personalization options. Use online code: YB31991. Additional yearbooks will be for sale in person at the end of the school year until we run out. The only way to guarantee a yearbook is to pre-purchase one before March 31.
First Marking Period Report Cards - Coming Home Next Week:
The end of the 1st marking period was Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Report cards will be printed and distributed in homerooms next week. Please follow these directions to access your child’s grades in Skyward.
A Face To Get To Know Better:
Meet Mrs. Erin Miller, KMS's 7th grade Principal. Mrs. Miller is in her 5th year at KMS. Prior to being hired in KCSD, Mrs. Miller was a Reading Specialist in Delaware. She attended West Virginia University where she met her husband, and together they have 3 awesome kids! Her daughter Haley graduated from WVU and now works as a Graphic Designer for the Bridgeport Islanders; her son Conor is majoring in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Delaware, and her youngest Riley is studying Education at Louisiana State University.
Mrs. Miller's expertise has helped take KMS's interventions to the next level, and she prioritizes relationships with students in all grade levels. She also has great taste in music as her go-to bands for streaming are DMB and Coldplay. When asked what she likes the most about working in Kennett, she says two things. First, hands down the kids. Second, the close-knit community and the relationships she's built with staff members. Keep rocking the Kennett Blue & White, Mrs. Miller!
