Falcon Zone....What a year! Thank you for all that you have done to support your child, our schools and the Zone. We are incredibly lucky to have the BEST students in all of D49 and we cannot wait to see what the 2024-2025 school year brings!


This year ....

- The community recognized over 200 staff members through the Zone Recognition Form.

- 102 Empowered staff members were featured through the newsletter.

- Our Falcon Zone Facebook Page attracted 333 Followers (Follow us if you haven't!).

- The FZ Community Closet & Pantry received over $2000 in donations and multiple food drive donations from our community and schools.

- The FZ Community Closet & Pantry supported 368 people and 84 households since January 31st.

Empowering Moments

From Superintendent Smith...

This past Friday, it was awesome to see the Falcon Zone supporting the rising transitions of our students from all of our Elementary Schools and our Middle School. The 8th grade students from Falcon Middle School made their way over to Falcon High to participate in a scavenger hunt and overview about what high school would be like for them next year. FHS Student Leaders helped show them around the campus and share about all of the things available as new Freshmen students next year.


At the same time, each of our elementary schools sent the 5th grade students over to Falcon Middle and the Falcon Middle Annex so that they could learn what being a Firebird was all about. Student Leaders from Firebird Nation showed our future 6th grade students around, participated in a first ever grand pass between the two buildings with the students, and helped them see all of the different opportunities available for next year's 6th grade class.


It is always great to see our student leaders in action and how they want to help all of our students around the Falcon Zone get involved in their schools while setting them up for success. Best of luck to all of our students making a move to their next school as they continue their academic adventure!

Empowered Staff Members

It has been awesome to read all of the recognitions from our staff, students, and community on the great things that our Falcon Zone staff members do at their schools. We have seen an increase in the recognition...Thank you! I continue to be amazed at all of the outstanding things that our teachers and staff members do to support our students, schools, and community.


Cari Muresan and I made the rounds this past week to hand out our next round of Empowered Hoodies to staff members that have received numerous recognitions. We were excited to honor these awesome Falcon Zone team members!

Danielle Sampognaro - FHS Art

Ms. Sampognaro has built strong positive relationships with her students and helps them develop strong artistic skills with all of the projects they complete. She has put a great deal of time and energy into elevating the overall culture at FHS and it shows!

Travis Yager - FHS Band

Mr. Yager has further developed his Band Programs at FHS and elevated their performances to a whole new level. He is always looking for new ways the Band Program can enhance Falcon Nation Spirit and he has a lot of fun with it!

Carrie Clay - FMS Counselor

Ms. Clay has supported students throughout their middle school career in whatever way best meets individual student needs. Ms. Clay develops strong relationships that allows her to help students with any academic, social, or behavioral situation that takes place!

Amber Villani - FMS Counselor

Mrs. Villani has helped her students work through the challenges with middle school each and every day. She has also co-sponsored the JS2S/StuCo leadership group this year to enhance ways that students can support the mission of the school!

Kristine Kelleher - BRES 2nd Grade

Second grade students are challenged to learn in various ways within Mrs. Kelleher's classroom. She develops a rigorous learning environment with strong student relationships that best prepare students with the skills needed to be successful in 3rd grade and beyond!

Amy Duncan - BRES Attendance Secretary

Mrs. Duncan is on top of things in the BRES Front Office. As the attendance secretary, she is always updating records, networking with families, and helping to keep track of student records for each and every Bull. Mrs. Duncan is always willing to jump in where needed!

Michelle Duncan - WHES 3rd Grade

Ms. Duncan has established a strong classroom culture in her 3rd grade classroom at Woodmen Hills. She looks for ways to engage and connect with her students so that they develop critical skills for their future. She makes learning fun and enjoys all of the students in her class with the community they have established!

Destiny Buller - WHES Preschool

Ms. Buller is one of our Preschool teachers at Woodmen Hills Elementary. This is such a critical time to help students adjust to school and learn skills for Kindergarten. Mrs. Buller can always be found supporting her students and families with whatever is needed for their success!

Amy DeWeerd - FESoT 3rd Grade

Mrs. DeWeerd is an outstanding 3rd grade teacher at Falcon Elementary. She gives so much of her time to plan lessons and activities that will best support student learning and success. She is always supporting her teammates and working to ensure student learning is at the forefront of all that FESoT does!

Holly Fitzpatrick - FESoT 2nd Grade

Ms. Fitzpatrick really works to connect with each and every student in her 2nd grade classroom at FESoT. She creates a student centered classroom where positive relationships are at the forefront. Parents have commented on how much they appreciate her focus on building positive relationships!

Laura Anderson - MRES 4th Grade

Mrs. Anderson has developed a strong classroom culture where student learning is at the forefront each and every day. Mrs. Anderson helps students learn how to advocate for their learning through clear understanding of the academic standards in the work they complete. She challenges students to work harder so that they are more successful!

Mrs. Bradford has been an outstanding new teammate for her team this year at MRES. She supports however she can and works to engage students in rigorous learning activities. Thank you to everyone that took the time to recognize some of our amazing staff members. Below are the recognitions gathered from last week!


Ms. Madsen (FHS) - She has helped me understand and love Chemistry more than anyone. Taking time out of lectures to make sure everyone had gotten the point, having a fair classroom space where everyone was treated equally, and last sharing her own experiences with learning Chemistry had overall made me, and others feel welcome within her classroom.
