Important Deadlines
Regular Academic Session Courses (01/11/2023 - 05/03/2023):
- 5/3/2023: Last day to request a complete withdraw from all classes in the term. Last day of class--no registration changes can be made after the last day of class.
- 5/4/2023: Reading day, no classes.
- 5/5/2023: Final exams begin.
- 5/11/2023: Final exams end.
Seven Week Second Session Courses (03/13/2023 - 05/03/2023):
- 5/3/2023: Last day of class--no registration changes can be made after the last day of class.
- 5/4/2023: Reading day, no classes.

Looking for help in seeking out a hands-on experience?
Take PSY 296A Gaining Psychology Experience!
PSY 296A intends to provide students with exposure to various hands-on experiences related to the field of Psychology (e.g., campus or community-based internships, volunteer positions, undergraduate precepting, and/or research experiences). This course will cover searching for these experiences and provide a step-by-step approach to applying for them. Students will research multiple sites and positions, craft professional documents and applications, and learn the importance of professional communication. This course aims to have students successfully apply for these positions during the course and obtain and gain professional insight and experience they will then reflect on and relate to an academic focus. The experience is recommended for sophomore or junior students.

Brain Imaging, Behavior and Aging Lab - Research Assistant

Description:
The Brain Imaging, Behavior and Aging Lab studies brain-behavior relationships in the context of aging. We use neuroimaging techniques, including structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET), in combination with measures of cognition and behavior to address research questions on cognitive aging and age-related neurodegenerative disease. Research Assistants may be involved in multiple aspects of projects such as: data entry, collecting and analyzing data, recruiting and screening participants over the phone, assisting with the collection of MRI and fMRI data (images of the brain), and participation in lab meetings and discussions.
Expectations:
- Research assistants will be expected to commit to at least 15 hours per week in the lab over the summer and to reliably adhere to that schedule.
- Priority will be given to students who can continue the position into the Fall semester.
- Lab hours will be based on the Research Assistant’s schedule and will be documented.
- Assistants will be introduced to multiple projects upon entering the lab, will focus on one project, and will be expected to assist with other projects if needed.
- We are looking for a wide array of applicants, especially those strong in the sciences and those considering graduate school.

Research Opportunity - Undergraduate Research Assistant
We are looking for undergraduate research assistants to join the Neuroscience of Reinforcement Learning and Decision-Making Lab. Roles in multiple projects across diverse areas of psychology/neuroscience are available.
Explore-Exploit Decision-Making Project: investigate the neural computations underlying the explore-exploit decisions in humans across the lifespan (TMS/fMRI)
Teacher Knowledge Project: learn how teachers communicate math with their students and develop a new way to improve communication through exploration
Think Aloud Project: analyze age differences in risky decision-making using stream-of-consciousness recordings while evaluating risk in scam/safe phishing emails
Surgery Training Project: Developing a laparoscopic surgery training program using force feedback and difficulty scaling in augmented reality
Virtual Reality Navigation Project: explore sensory-motor integration during spatial navigation (EEG)
Mastermind Project (Fall Only): use video-based neuroscience and blink rate methods to study post-error slowing in game show decision-making
Type: For Research Credit – Directed Research or Independent Study
