Tigerville Times
March 2024 Edition
From the Principal's Desk
As we welcome the month of March, we are delighted to see the signs of spring beginning to bloom around our school. The chirping of birds, the longer days, and the warmer weather are all gentle reminders that new beginnings are on the horizon.
Our school is buzzing with activities for March.
Family Fitness and BINGO for Books: Kick off March with a free family night event on Monday, March 4. Coach A is hosting Family Fitness at 5:30 PM. Students will showcase volleyball skills they have been learning in PE. Then at 6:00 PM, Mrs. Imms will host BINGO for Books. Students can play BINGO to win a book for their personal library.
Tigerville PTA Movie Night: The Tigerville PTA is hosting a movie night on March 8. The event opens at 5:30 PM. The PTA has lined up food trucks for this family time.
Chorus Spring Musical: Our chorus has worked hard to present their annual Spring musical. We can't wait for this special show. The two show times are sold out. Be sure to have your ticket to enter. All people (birth-100) must have a pre-purchased ticket to enter the event. There are no ticket sales at the event.
We hope all of Tigerville families are safe during our many upcoming holidays and enjoy the family time. Friday, March 15 is a student holiday. March 18-22 is Spring Break. All schools and offices will be closed this week. Friday, March 29 is another holiday. All schools and office will be closed on this day.
Don't forget Daylight Savings Time is coming up. Please remember to adjust your clocks forward one hour for Daylight Savings Time to start on March 10th.
As we enter the Spring months, our weather changes quickly. Watch the GCS website and social media pages for up to date weather information impacting school. Also as the weather warms up, please ensure your child has appropriate attire for outdoor recess.
As we embrace the spirit of spring, let us encourage our students to embrace growth and embrace the beauty of new beginnings. Together, we can cultivate a vibrant learning environment where every child can thrive.
Warm regards,
D. Jackson

TextThe art classes are currently busy with art projects that are coordinated to represent the music and movies of some of our favorite Disney classics! This art work will be displayed in the hallway leading to the cafeteria in support of our spring musical called “DISNEY AT THE MOVIES!” This will be a fun night to celebrate the arts coming together in celebration of our Tigerville Elementary Chorus. Our performance will be Monday, March 11th and Tuesday, March 12th. We are also celebrating that March is Youth Art Month and I will be displaying art work for every student who did an Original Works piece for the entire month of March on our art display banners at our school. We have some fabulous art work to share and then these wonderful pieces will be returned to the parents for enjoying in your own homes! Congratulations to the following students who have art work displayed at the 2023 Greenville County Schools Elementary Art Show! We are delighted to share 3rd Grade student – Cooper Simms and K5 student – Chloe Gonzalez! The artwork will be displayed at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts! The Art Show Reception is going to be soon with more info to come at a later time. We also congratulate our Tigerville Elementary School winner for the Palmetto Pride – Litter Trashes Everyone as 5th Grader, Owen St. Gelais! Owen’s entry will now represent Tigerville at the state level of judging in Columbia, South Carolina! We wish him the best of luck and we are already so proud of his artistic skill and creative ideas!

Library Loop
Spring is blooming! Think about reading outside together as a family. You could incorporate this family time with the school wide expectation that students read for 20 minutes each night. Don't forget to 'keep track of your reading minutes in your classroom reading log!
This is a great month to explore the works of Dr. Seuss in celebration of his birthday on March 2nd. Check out our collection of Dr. Seuss books and share your favorite stories with friends.
I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who supported the book fair last month. Thank you to all of our PTA volunteers who helped kick off our book fair. Thank you to staff who helped with our afternoon family shop. Thank you to families who shopped the book fair. All of this helps to buy new books for the library.
One of our biggest library events is coming up on Monday March 4. BINGO for books is back for students to enjoy with their parents. Student can play BINGO for a chance to win a book for their personal library. BINGO for Books follows Family Fitness at 6:00 pm.
We hope you have a fantastic month of reading and exploration in our school library. Remember, reading is the key to unlocking endless adventures and knowledge!
Happy Reading!
Music Notes
March is here! I sure hope the cold air is gone until next winter and the sun is up after 6pm. The cold is simply not my friend.
Well, we are getting ready for our Spring production of Disney The Movies The Music. The chorus kids have been working so hard and are extremely excited to put on a show for you. Make sure you have reserved your tickets and paid for them so you can attend. Our performance days are: Monday, March 11th and Tuesday, March 12th at 6:00 pm. Plan to see all the magic of Disney and hear the voices of our talented students.
K5 has learned a great deal about all the different instruments and the instrument families. They’ve seen some and even tried to play some. The Trumpet was exciting for them because they got to try and produce a sound. Not easy to do when you are 5 and 6 years old.
1st is doing an absolute amazing job in the Keyboard Lab. I’m so proud of all their hard work. We will continue in the Lab for the rest of the school year. They just learned how to play Mary Had A Little Lamb and they were so excited when they figured out the song they were playing.
2nd has also done a great job playing the Barred instruments and the Boomwhackers. Next for them will be the Ukulele staring in a week or so.
3rd-5th are working to pass the Belt songs in Recorder Karate. They are doing a great job in the Unit and seem to love the Recorder. And for me, I just love listening to the 3 classes each day. We will also add the Ukulele into their lessons some as well. Exciting times because the kids love both instruments.
OK, don’t forget about ordering your tickets and sending the $2 per ticket in for our Spring production. If you have any questions, send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hello, Tigerville families! It's been warming up outside, so that means it's time to start moving our PE lessons outside! We also have a Family Fitness Night this month, where students will be showcasing what they have been learning in PE for the month of February. Family Fitness Night will be Monday, March 4th from 5:30 - 6:00 pm and Bingo for books will start right after that at 6:00 pm. Students will introduce the game rules and positions for volleyball or badminton, depending on their grade level. Then, students and families will be able to join in on the game before going to our bingo for books event. In March, students will be starting our Jump rope unit in k5 through 2nd grade classes and students in 3rd grade through 5th grade will be starting their end of year Fitnessgram unit.
