- Building Projects
- Cornhole
- Coding
- String Art & Cardboard Sculptures
- Perler Beads
- Folk Dance
It was an excellent opportunity for students to explore their interests, learn something new, and have fun with their peers. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and creativity! I hope you all enjoy the LONG weekend! -Erin
3 Tips to Help Kids Persevere
Change is ubiquitous in life. It’s constant, and shows up daily. From caring for aging grandparents, to navigating the loss of a job, it’s impossible not to feel overwhelmed by change as grown-ups. Kids of all ages can experience fear around change. As kids move into different developmental stages, their bodies, emotions, and understanding of the world changes in big ways. New friendships emerge, and old friendships end. Things that used to be hobbies are no longer fun. Moving to new towns and meeting new teachers can elicit feelings of anxiety. If your kid is struggling with change right now, click HERE to read more.
Shining Gilly Award Winner!
What is the Shining Gilly Award?
The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
Congratulations to Frankie, Kindergartener in Ms. Reed's class.
Social Emotional Screener
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This letter is meant to inform you of a social-emotional screener that will be administered to your child three times throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Students in 3rd-12th grade will complete the screener.
The social-emotional screener is comprised of short rating scales that are completed by students. Each assessment takes between 5 and 8 minutes to complete. The focus of the scales is a student’s social-emotional learning (SEL) which includes the CASEL competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. The purpose of these online assessments is as a universal screener given to all students that will identify areas of strength and weaknesses in social-emotional learning in order to inform teachers and school leaders in planning SEL instructional and programmatic supports (i.e. universal instruction such as Second Step) for students.
How will the measure be used?
This measure of students' social and emotional functioning is aligned with most state Social Emotional Learning standards and provides results used to guide strength-focused instruction for all students and potentially preventive support for any students experiencing emotional behavior concerns. This brief rating scale is not a comprehensive diagnostic measure for classification of difficulties or disorders. Rather, it is meant to efficiently “check-in” to help us better understand how our students' social emotional functioning associated with each level can always be improved and thus change over time. Periodic re-screening can be used to continue to monitor students’ progress.
If you consent for your student to participate in this screening no action is needed. If you do not consent, please CLICK HERE and return it to your student’s homeroom teacher no later than Wednesday, October 30th, 2024.
Sincerely,
Keli Melcher

Calling All Volunteers! We Need Your Help in the Library 📚
Our school library is a hub of learning and discovery, and we could use some extra hands to keep it running smoothly. Whether you love organizing, reading, or just want to lend a helping hand, we’d love your support!
Volunteers are needed for tasks like shelving books, assisting students, and keeping our space inviting for all. Any amount of time you can offer makes a big difference!
If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Southern or stop by the office for more information. Thank you for helping us create a thriving library space for our students!

School Hours 7:35-3:00
Office hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
School hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:35 a.m.
Please try to get your student to school by 7:35 every day. It gives your students ample time to get to their locker, chat with friends, and grab breakfast. We start our morning meeting at 7:45 and it is hard for kids to walk in late to the classroom when everyone is already begun the day.
If students are not in their classroom at 7:45 they will be marked tardy.
