FASSETT FAMILIES: IMPORTANT DATES and INFORMATION
We had another exciting and productive week of school. Please ask your child what their favorite part of their day was and how we used Eagle Time this week to get them thinking about the Power of Gratitude. Ask them what they wrote about and what they are thankful for.
Reminder: Students only have school Monday and Tuesday this week.
I would like to take this time to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful for our wonderful staff, students and families at Fassett.
OCS Shining Stars: If you are thankful for a Fassett Staff member, please use the shining star link to recognize what make them special. This is a community staff recognition program. Here at Oregon City Schools we know our staff is often going the extra mile, so please help us celebrate our staff by telling us about how they make a difference. You can fill out the recognition form using the following link: OCS Shining Stars. Submissions will be shared with staff members and their supervisors.
Old News Boys Coat/Shoe Voucher Program: If your student is in need of a coat or shoes/boots, please email Mr. Maletich at tmaletich@oregoncs.org. The items are brand new and free of charge. We will need to know your child's coat and shoe size.
Holiday Food Basket Program: If you or someone you know is in need of assistance this holiday season, please share the following information:
The 2024 Holiday Food Basket program is available to residents in the City of Oregon, Curtice (Must live in Lucas County), Harbor View and Jerusalem Township. Please see additional information on how to apply, in the attached document.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month
November is National Diabetes Month, a time when communities across the country seek to bring attention to diabetes. This year’s focus is on taking action to prevent diabetes health problems.
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. It affects about 38 million Americans, including adults and youth. Diabetes can damage the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart, and it is linked to some types of cancer.
But there’s also good news: Taking charge of your health may help you prevent diabetes health problems.

Fassett Five: We are very excited to continue the Fassett Five tradition this school year! The Fassett Five is a way of structuring students to promote positive climate and positive behaviors, through purposeful building of relationships and fun and friendly competition. See details below:
- 7th and 8th grade students and teachers have been randomly organized into 5 Houses: Red, Black, Blue, Purple and Orange.
- Through fun and friendly competitions and events, and positive behavior, Houses will accumulate points throughout the year, with incentive on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- High Five cards are given to students, by staff members, to acknowledge Respectful, Responsible, and Ready behavior. High Five cards earned by students will contribute to the point total for their House.
- Once a month, Houses will meet for a House meetings in the auditorium.
- Once a month we will hold an All-House meeting. These uplifting assemblies/pep rallies will be held to announce students of the month, update students on House points, and possibly give away prizes.
PBIS at Fassett: As part of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) efforts at Fassett, BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, and BE READY are our primary expectations for positive behavior. Our Matrix of Expectations provides students a framework of guidance on what it means to BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, and BE READY at Fassett. We use "High Five" cards to acknowledge students who are meeting these expectations. Each Friday, student cards are drawn. These "Eagles of the Week" will be rewarded with a Friday lunch with a friend. Please take time to review the Matrix of Expectations on page 12 of the FJHS 2024-25 Handbook with your student(s), and encourage them to show their Eagle Pride by being respectful, responsible, and ready in all they do! Thank you for your support!
School Office Hours: the school office is open each weekday from 7:00am - 3:00pm. Please call the secretary, Mrs. Edwards, at 419-693-0455.
Student Handbook: Please take time to review the FJHS 2024-25 Handbook.
