Consolidated App Updates
Very important - if you have activities that you need to fund starting in July, be sure to reach out to your OES rep to get pre-approval now. You don't want to count on those federal dollars and find out later that the activity is not approved.
MICIP Requirements
- All districts must have a plan in MICIP (no more "paper"/template version)
- For 2022/23, districts must have one goal
- For 2023/24, districts will be required to have all active goals in MICIP
There are many more details in the memo, so please review if you have not already done so. As a reminder, there is no "submit" button in MICIP. For your goal to be active, all MICIP screens need to be completed and the goal needs to appear in the Portfolio. Resources:

Equitable Services for Private Schools
- The Equitable Services Worksheet was redesigned to meet ADA compliance. As such, it looks and acts different from before. Give yourself some extra time to understand how it works and what it is telling you.
- The instructions for the worksheet are now in a separate document. I suggest reading the instructions carefully as you complete the process.
- While Title IA is built into NexSys, there is still a Title IA calculation on the worksheet. I believe this is so you can do planning with private schools in this time that the consolidated app is not yet available. Please know that you'll need to use the calculations from NexSys for your "official" work with private schools.
98b/104a EOY Requirements
Districts are required to provide a progress report on building goals to the board at June board meeting and to upload those progress reports to the district transparency webpage. A few notes about this:
- Districts do not have to submit the progress reports to MDE.
- Here is an optional progress report template that meets all the requirements of the law. While districts can choose to use a different progress report format, this one was created in collaboration with MDE and MAISA/GELN.
- Full details on 98b/104a (Graphic | Info)
Additionally, benchmark data needs to be provided to MDE. The data will be submitted in different ways depending on the benchmark assessment(s) your district uses. See this flowchart for more info.
- If your district administers an "approved assessment" you will work with the assessment vendor to submit data via the data hub. The DataHub Newsletter from June 6th contains a ton of additional information about this process, including a way to export your student data for use with your progress report to the board. I suggest reading the first two articles in this newsletter carefully.
- I contacted MDE to ask about districts that administer "local assessments" (any assessment that isn't iReady, STAR, NWEA, or DRC). I received a response from OEAA that there will be no further reporting requirements around local assessments.
- Curious as to how this data is used? See the EPIC MSU report that was just released in April.
