Battle Of Gettysburg
Held on July 1-3, 1863 the confederate army was led by general Robert E. Lee and general's Longstreet and Pickett they also outnumbered the union. Around 46,000 casualties including nearly 8,000 deaths also the deadliest war. General Robert E. Lee sent Pickett on a direct charge at the heart of the union army called the "Pickett Charge".
Battle of Antietam
Begun on September 17, 1862 near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The union would attack 1st then the confederates would counterattack. They had a 3rd major assault by the union.
Battle Of Chickamuga
Chickamauga is the first and largest national military park and the second deadliest battle. It was one of the few battles in which the confederates had more soldiers in the fight than the union.
Sherman's March To The Sea
One of the most devastating blows to the south, Sherman estimated his army did $100m in damage that's in 1864 dollars. Soldiers who went out to forage for food for the army were called bummers and the tactic of destroying much in an army path is called scorched earth.
Sherman's Atlanta Campaign
Sherman embarked on his march to the sea. Had to keep Sherman's union forces from driving south and capturing Atlanta and he faced off against confederate generals.
