PICKUP AND DROP OFF PROCEDURES:
Morning Drop Off:
Doors will open at 8:55 am. Students should remain in their cars until the doors have been opened and there is an adult outside to meet them.
After 9:10 students must be signed in through the front office.
Please enter the parking lot off of Lowell Road using the drop off lane. (See map below)
Students may NOT be dropped off in the parking lot, they MUST use the drop off line.
If you need to accompany your child and bring them into the building, you must park in the parking lot and walk with your child to the office. Enter only through Door 1 (the Main Entrance) and check in at the office.
After School Pick up:
The procedures are the same as the morning.
Please make sure to be there by 4:07 to pick your child. We are unable to provide after school care.
If your child is normally a busser and you will be picking them up or if they will be riding home with a friend, you must send a note to the school or call the school by 3:30 p.m. Unless we have a written note from a parent or a phone call, we will always send students home in their normal manner.
If your child is going to an alternate drop off from their normal bus ride, BOTH parents (you and your students friends parent), MUST send in a note. The bus garage will not drop students off at the alternate spot without notes from both parents.

Camp Invention is Back
Camp Invention® is coming to St. Johns Public Schools at Oakview Elementary!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, St. Johns Public Schools is excited to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade.
This inspiring, weeklong summer experience provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Taking on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, children have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively, and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges.
The week begins on June 17th with Rachael Post serving as Director (a St. Johns Public School teacher). The all-new 2024 program will spark the imagination of both new and returning campers with an adventure full of inspiration, innovation, and unforgettable discoveries!
During this action-packed, confidence-boosting program, young innovators will:
- • In the Game: Develop their own sports ball and customize a light-up game with a unique brand and logo as they explore athletics, design and innovation
- • Let’s Glow: Discover the science of light through illuminating inventions and fluorescent animals, then build a one-of-a-kind Glow Box using circuitry and ultraviolet light
- • Operation HydroDrop: Embark on an epic global operation to tackle water challenges around the world, learning the role that water plays with the help of a robotic lab-on-wheels
- • Prototyping Game Show: Star as a contestant on a prototyping game show, molding and shaping ideas into awesome inventions using everyday items and a DIY toolbox
Early registration discounts are available! Register using SUM25 by 3/27 to save $25 off the $270 registration fee. Availability is limited, so visit invent.org/mylocalcamp or call 800-968-4332 to secure your child’s spot today!
Math Game of the Month
Place Value Knockout
Place Value Knockout is a game where students practice their understanding of the value of each digit in a number. This game can be modified for younger students by using fewer rows and fewer dice. To play you need 4 dice, paper, pencil and something to use as markers such as M-n-Ms, Lego pieces, coins or dried beans. Enjoy time with your child while playing this game that builds place value understanding!

Updates from the Playground
Updates from the Playground
It's close to that time of year that the snow is melting and the ground can be wet and places can be muddy. Accidents happen and we are doing our best to keep kids dry and clean. We are still requiring students to wear boots to go off the black top and wood chip areas.
If you can please label students outdoor gear so if it gets lost it can find its way home.
Riley Elementary adheres to the following district-wide guidelines:
* If the temperature or wind chill (temperature/wind chill = “feels like”) is 0 degrees or below, students will be inside for recess.* Students may only be excused from outdoor recess with a signed doctor’s note. If your child is well enough to come to school, he/she is well enough to go to recess.
*Students must have appropriate snow gear/boots to leave the blacktop area.
Announcement from Food Service
