Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Students:

Final Exams are scheduled for June 9th - June 15th. See the exam schedule listed below. Students are required to be present and on time for all final exams. In case of illness or other emergency, a student will be considered excused from a final exam if a parent contacts the school the same day as the scheduled exam and provides acceptable documentation for a valid absence. Please call Ms. Berardo in the main office at 732-556-2047 prior to the start of the exam or email her at tberardo@wallpublicschools.org. Please email the teacher as well. The student must then make arrangements with the teacher to make-up the exam on June 15th. In all other situations the student shall receive a "0" for a missed exam. In the case of an extended illness, arrangements for make-up exams will be made through the guidance department. Please contact your child's grade level Assistant Principal with any questions.

If a student has an excused absence from an exam, your child should make arrangements with the classroom teacher to schedule the make-up exam. If a student needs assistance, your child should contact his/her school counselor.

Transportation:

Buses will pick students up at the regularly scheduled morning times and depart school at 11:45 a.m.

Vocational Classes:

Vocational students are required to be present for their scheduled exams and will be excused from vocational school on those days only. On days when they have no exams, they must attend their vocational program; transportation will be provided. Vocational students should check with their vocational bus drivers and inform them of their schedule. The Guidance department will send notice to the vocational schools as well.

Senior Final Exam Exemptions

A Senior student who completes a course with an average of 91 or higher, as determined by averaging the Semester 1 Average with the average of the third and fourth marking period grades and with the stipulation that no marking period average be lower than 88; will be exempt from taking the final exam.

AP Courses and Final Exams

All students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses are required to take the Advanced Placement Examinations in May (see Policy 2429)

• Students who earn a final average of 85 or above and take the AP Exam will be exempt from the final exam
  

• Students who do not take the required AP Exam in May shall be required to reimburse the school district for the cost of the exam and take the final exam
  

• Students who do not take the required AP Exam in May will receive Honors credit for the course with a notation on his/her transcript indicating that the student did not fulfill the AP requirement (GPA and class rank will be impacted)

Many of our Peer Leaders have been working hard during their Physical Education class to promote social inclusion at Wall High School. They participated in a kickball tournament at Toms River East High School on May 16th. This tournament is through Unified Sports, which is an offshoot of Special Olympics that is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. We are proud that our Peer Leaders are part of a program that empowers individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to engage with each other through the power of sports.

In March, Wall High School Latin students were among the over 100,000 students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and 13 foreign countries who took the National Latin Exam which is administered under the auspices of the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. The National Latin Exam promotes and supports the teaching and learning of the Latin language, its literature and culture, and its lasting influence in the modern world. The NLE is an opportunity for students to receive reinforcement and recognition for their accomplishments in the classroom. Depending upon their score, students may earn certificates, medals, and may even qualify for scholarships. This year, the following students are recognized for their achievements with these awards:

This year Architecture 1 developed a ranch house design. This project is designed to be culmination of all the student skills learned this school year. Students were first tasked with designing a functional kitchen. Next, students were tasked with designing a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom ranch house design based on their kitchen design. Students employed their skills of hand sketching and Autodesk Revit to expand their design to meet the project requirements. Students finalized their project by creating 3D Renderings using Lumion Rendering to create photo realistic images of their design solution.

The Wall High School Counseling Department is meeting with sophomores to get them registered on SCOIR. Scoir is a college & career discovery platform that will help your student find colleges that interest them and manage the application process. An email was sent inviting you to join Scoir and link to your student's account. Please take time to create your parent account.

Here is a 2 minute SCOIR Video that highlights the program. If you have any questions regarding the program, please reach out to your student's school counselor.

Scheduling for the 2023-2024 is complete! All students have met with their school counselor and finalized courses for next year. Parents can check their child’s requests in the Genesis Parent Portal under the scheduling tab. Any student who needs to make a change can do so by emailing their school counselor. All changes must be made by Friday, June 2, 2023.
