MUSTANG WEEKLY NEWSLETTER #13
November 8th, 2024
WEEKLY MESSAGE
Hello, John Jay family!
We hope everyone had a restful weekend. This week, we have a few important reminders about ID badges and attendance recovery. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we continue working together to keep our campus safe and ensure all students stay on track for success!
Student ID Requirements
Wearing ID badges every day, every period, is essential for all students. IDs help us identify students quickly and accurately, which is critical for maintaining a secure campus. Here’s a quick recap of ID expectations:
- Daily Requirement: Every student must wear a visible ID badge every day and every period.
- Visible Placement: IDs should be worn on a lanyard, badge reel, or clipped outside the backpack. This helps staff members easily identify students as they move around campus.
- First Period Check-In: First period teachers, thank you for setting the tone each morning by checking that students have their IDs and are following dress code.
- For Access to Campus Areas: Students will be asked to show their ID before heading to the restroom, library, nurse’s office, attending field trips, or leaving campus for off-campus lunch. While no student will be denied access to these areas, we’ll take a moment to remind students of the importance of wearing their ID badges.
Thank you for supporting our safety protocols!
Attendance Recovery
Students, if you’ve missed more than the allowable absences for this semester (8 absences for Semester 1 and 9 for Semester 2), we offer Attendance Recovery (AR) opportunities to help you make up the time and earn back credit.
- Attendance Recovery Options:
- Time with Teachers: 45 minutes of AR equals 1 class period towards credit recovery.
- AR Sessions: Offered before and after school (not during lunch), so students must plan to be physically present for these sessions.
- Documentation: Teachers, please submit the AR Form within 24 hours after the session to ensure students receive the appropriate credit. This is a crucial step in helping students regain credit in areas where they need it most. Only the AR Form will be accepted—no email submissions.
Let’s make it a great week, Mustangs! We’re proud of each of you and grateful for the community we share. Keep up the great work, and remember that you’re valued and loved. Go, Mustangs!
