St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 1 I 11 October 2024
Good afternoon, everyone.
I am pleased to report that we have had a very smooth, happy, and energised start to Term 4! Children and staff have all greatly benefitted from a good rest, some quality family time and a break from the routines of school life.
While the next nine weeks are undoubtedly going to be action-packed, both in and out of the classroom, our ongoing goal for all students, is to ensure the term is as calm, focused, productive and positive as ever.
We are deeply committed to supporting your child’s learning right up to the last day of term, while also encouraging the children to continue nurturing their friendships and enjoying the many opportunities that come their way.
As parents, you can support your child to have a calm, happy, and successful term here at school by ensuring they:
- arrive at school on time, ready for a calm transition to the school day
- have a consistently good night’s sleep
- are eating well – healthy meals with more fruit and veg and less processed, high sugar foods
- are not over scheduled after school – leaving enough time for them to relax, do their homework, and participate in unstructured and active play
- have no or little technology after school, and more personal connection, conversation and affirmation
- experience a home life where they feel loved, cared for, heard and appreciated.
We know that the coming weeks have a way of gathering a momentum of their own, with families and staff juggling increasing school and work demands, end of year Christmas functions, extra family commitments, warmer weather, and so much more! While these things all have the potential of impacting our time, energy and emotions, the challenge is to keep sight of the bigger picture, and to try hard to stay focused on arriving at the end of term feeling good about the way we have set our kids up for success, about how we have treated one another along the way and how we might embrace the spirit of Christmas well before Christmas day arrives!
Being a good example, taking a breath, thinking the best of the other, holding our tongue, and directing our energies to being as helpful, thoughtful and generous as we can, will all help to make Term 4 at St Bernadette’s a great term for everyone to enjoy.
All the very best.
Regards
Geordie
