Reducing Homework Battles
Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
Whiton Room at Hingham Public Library
If battles over homework have become a constant struggle in your house, then you won't want to miss this session! Dr. David Murphy, President of Executive Effort Consulting, will join Hingham SEPAC for a presentation on how to reduce homework battles via strengthening executive function skills in middle school and high school students.
This presentation is for parents of students who struggle with homework, struggle to independently initiate and manage their priorities, or simply struggle to find balance in this overscheduled culture. The session will include:
- Taking a strength-based approach to managing ADHD and developing skills
- Finding teachable moments to promote independence and problem solving
- Strategies to manage homework and promote self-efficacy
- Self-regulation skills and managing distractions
- Long term development of college readiness skills in teenagers
- Skill to promote future planning and goal-directed persistence
