Gooding Senior Center Notice
With rising costs affecting everyone unfortunately us as well. It has resulted in the need for Senior Centers to raise the cost of their meals. This was a difficult decision for staff and board members. Many seniors are on a fixed income and their budgets are tight. Butβ¦. You can help!
The Gooding Senior Center is a very important asset to our community. We help to keep our seniors connected, provide meals and fun activities, and offer health checks.
Many are not aware, but everyone is welcome to come to the center and eat or have meals delivered to them you donβt even have to be a senior any age is welcome.
We are also holding some fundraisers in the next few months; we are having a yard sale in October and would love to help you out with any items you might be needing to get rid of. We have a beautiful quilt that was donated, and we are raffling off. Tickets are $5.00 a ticket or $20 for 5. We will be running the raffle until December 7th and be drawing a winner on the 11th.
Did you know we have a pool table, a shuffleboard, card games, line dancing, exercise classes, and a library? We even have medical equipment that you can use at no cost.
Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. All we ask is that you donate a little. We would love to have you.
So, whether it's volunteering or donations every little bit helps and is appreciated more than you know.

What Not to Flush π½
We are finding more and more items that are being flushed that SHOULD NOT be flushed. Many items used in the bathroom were not designed to be flushed and can cause clogs in your toilet, drain lines, and our treatment plant.
Not all items that are labeled "flushable" are flushable.
Never flush anything that can pose a threat to water quality like motor oil, antifreeze, prescription medication, paint, or nail polish.
Never flush paper towels, tissues, baby wipes, feminine products, hand or surface wipes.
Lately, we have been finding mop heads in our system.
Please be cautious about what is being put down your drain.
Message from Mayor Diane Houser
Hello Gooding,
It looks like fall is just around the corner. Not too long ago we were talking about planting our gardens and now we are harvesting the crops. Next, we will be raking the leaves, shoveling snow, and buying Christmas presents.
The street department has finished chip sealing for the year. They have painted new markers on the street for parking and other various things that need to be done before winter comes.
The new Waste Water Treatment Plant is up and running. We will have an open house on October 5th from 10 am to noon for the public. We will have our engineers there to answer questions. Please be mindful to not flush "flushable" wipes, feminine products or even mop heads and other various items down the toilet as these tend to clog up the system.
The sewer clean-out and pictures have been finished. We will know soon what area of town we will need to focus on first for repairs.
We are still working on the new water lines in the area of Michigan St.
God Bless and be safe.
Diane Houser
