Wow, that was fun! A special thanks to Molly Hock and Kelly Steyskal for organizing our most successful Book Fair yet! Over $20,000 was spent at the Scholastic Book Fair and the best part? Roughly 50% of this amount will be credited to our teachers as a Scholastic credit so that they can purchase books for their classrooms! Every class, including the specialists, will get a book refresh! It's safe to say Brighton loves to read!

Our annual Fall Carnival will be held on Friday, October 27th this year! Some of the awesome things to look forward to include...

-8 Carnival Games with a chance to win Prize Tickets

-Balloon Twisters and Glitter Tattoo Tables

-Punch cards will be sold for games, balloon twisters and glitter tattoos

-Concession Stand with Pizza, Hot Dogs and Snacks

-8th Grade Bake Sale

-Trick or Treating

-Costumes are encouraged

-Dancing and seating in the Gym

-Photo Booth

-Shuttle Buses running throughout the night for parking offsite

The PTO has been discussing the budget around subsidizing class trips and would like to start a conversation as to what we would like to do moving forward. We have received feedback that it doesn't seem like a good use of budget to help every student pay for the class trips, which ultimately takes money away from other school wide events.

For example, a family may donate $200 to the PTO and we essentially end up paying for $100 of their Child's trip, so it's just a transfer of money. However, we know there are families who depend upon this subsidy and their child may not be able to attend the trip without the help. About $30k is budgeted to be spent on the 3rd-7th class trips.

One option we have discussed is creating a Grant that would allow any family who needs the support to have their trip paid in full. In addition, we would like to offer families the opportunity to donate their portion of the subsidy into our Grant fund.

The Brighton Soccer Team is playing at the Evergreen Playfields on October 18th at 4pm. We encourage everyone to come and cheer them on. The Brighton Cheerleaders will be cheering the first half and then preforming a half time show. We hope to see you there!

We've been having so much fun at the Brighton Day Out events so we are moving on to Hockey!

Help raise money for the Brighton PTO with SCRIP gift cards! Brighton families, friends, and staff are all welcome to participate. When you purchase a SCRIP gift card including hundreds of participating stores, you receive the full value of that gift card and the PTO receives a percent rebate (usually between 2-15% depending on the store). You can purchase e-cards or physical gift cards via the app/website or ordering from the SCRIP coordinator. Some common gift cards include Starbucks, Target, Amazon and many more! Twice a year, the PTO organizes a way for families to gift SCRIP certificates of appreciation to staff members. Staff members redeem these certificates for their choice of gift cards from SCRIP. Although most families gift during the PTO’s bi-annual gift-giving opportunities, SCRIP gifts can be given at any time by contacting Scrip@brightonpto.com

We will be starting the process for the Holiday Gift Giving in mid to late November so stay tuned!
