99 PLEDGES MARCHATHON FUNDRAISER BIG PUSH
We started our annual fundraiser on Monday during band camp through a company called 99 Pledges.
As a team we need to make a big push this week. IF WE DON'T RAISE FUNDS ON OUR FUNDRAISER, IT WILL BE ADDED TO FEES IN ORDER TO TRAVEL TO SAN ANTONIO AND FUND OUR BOOSTER BUDGET.
Let's all do our part. We will have a video to add to the page for your supporters to see you in action.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Check your email for your personal page’s link and instructions; emails were sent to the student email and first adult email listed in Presto. Contact Mr. Schroeder at mark.schroeder@wylieisd.net if you didn’t receive an email.
- Update your page with your picture
- Enter cell phone numbers and/or email addresses of anyone you think might donate to you or THAT WYLIE BAND
- Post your personal page’s link or the band link to social media (click on the 99 Pledges icon for the band link)
- SOCIAL MEDIA IS HUGE ON THIS!!!! POST POST POST POST
Last year we raised $65,000. Our goal this year is, $80,000 as a band! That is $275 per student! WE NEED EVERYONE’S PARTICIPATION TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

- If you don't have it, a parent will be called to bring it up to you.
- You WILL NOT share water jugs. This is to avoid the spread of any illnesses.
- Take your health seriously. It is easy to be outside if you practice healthy habits.

BENEFITS OF BAND-Mr. David Borland, Amazon Executive
STEM, English, AP classes aren't enough
Our friends at Rouse HS in Leander put this video together to understand the benefits of band as it applies to the business world.
TWB BAND CAMP 2024
All students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in the band program, regardless of the band class in which they are placed, will participate in marching band. There are two levels of marching band:
1. THAT WYLIE BAND (TWB) consists of all students in grades 9-12. Members of THAT WYLIE BAND will attend all football games and perform throughout the game in the bleachers. TWB will perform in a pre-game show for home games and will perform at half-time during some early season games. They will also perform the drill team music during half-time at all games. Members of THAT WYLIE BAND will also perform at all playoff games should the football team advance. Look carefully at the rehearsal schedule (attached) for rehearsals for THAT WYLIE BAND. Students who are in THAT WYLIE BAND are only responsible for those rehearsals and are not expected to attend the Competition Marching Band rehearsals.
2. Competition Marching Band. Any student in grades 9-12 is eligible for a position in this group. Students who are selected for the Competition Marching Band will participate in all the activities listed above for members of THAT WYLIE BAND. In addition, they will perform at all half-time shows throughout the season and will compete at all marching band contests in the fall.
Selection for the Competition Marching Band (You can do it!)
The selection process for the Competition Marching Band is based on three criteria: Music, Marching, and Responsibility.
1. Music –Memorization, tone quality, technique.
2. Marching – Mastery of marching technique, memorization of drill sets, ability to play while marching.
3. Responsibility – Attendance, promptness, having all materials for rehearsals, both inside and outside.
KEEPING YOURSELF PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY HEALTHY
Please follow this simple guideline to keep your body strong and healthy in the heat. 99% of all health issues can be avoided by taking care of your body. Not doing so is detrimental to you and the group.
1. Hydrate yourself before, during, and after rehearsal
2. Eat breakfast (milk is OK as long as you drink an equal amount of water)
3. Bring a snack...yes, you can bring a snack to eat during breaks.
4. Go to bed at a reasonable time (no later than 10:30pm)
5. Become a “morning person”
6. Wake up early enough so you are not rushing and can have a relaxing morning
7. Plan a healthy lunch (if you do not know what this is…look it up on the internet)
8. Look at the schedule for the day in advance and plan accordingly
LUNCH AT BAND CAMP
Students are responsible for their own lunch for the duration of band camp. Students may either bring their lunch, go home to eat, or go out to eat. There will be designated areas for students who bring their lunch.

COMPRESSION SHORTS/LEGGINGS UNDER UNIFORM
** Does not apply to Color Guard
It is hard to believe that in just a couple weeks we will be fitting new members for uniforms. There is one garment that you will need to purchase on your own- Compression Shorts or Leggings. Please understand that you will be changing into your uniform in an open area, so your undergarment must be appropriate. Due to the design of our uniform and how it is form fitting, we will be use compression shorts/leggings under the uniform.
Since there are so many varieties (material and style) and prices of this product, I did not want to have this something that we purchase on your behalf. These will need to be at least 9 inches in length (no short shorts). Please let me know if you have any questions….but please do not ask me fashion advice. I don’t care what color either. YOU WILL NEED TO WEAR THESE ON YOUR UNIFORM FITTING DAY (below).
PHYSICAL INFORMATION AND FORMS
Who needs a physical?
Any student participating in Junior High or High School athletics along with High School Marching Band/Color Guard will be required to get a new physical every 2 years.
THERE ARE ONLY 2 FORMS THAT BAND REQUIRES (Click the button below)
