Principal's Message
Hello Ockley Green Families,
This week, our 8th Grade students had the opportunity to visit University of Oregon and we enjoyed performances from our Dancers and Bands! Our students truly made us OGMS Proud! Many thanks to Ms Galen & the 8th Grade teachers for supporting the long field trip and to both Mr. Damon and Mr. Truong for their hard work with supporting our students' growth this school year.
It is hard to believe that June is here and that we are entering our last 2 weeks of school. We continue to have field trip outings for students with the Dancers' participation in the upcoming Jr Rose Festival, BSU's tour of the Soul Restoration Center and the 8th Grade Oaks Park trip. We are also looking forward to our End of Year Dance happening on June 7th. It has been such a joy to see our students planning for and engaging in these many activities, as well as seeing them continue to find success in the classroom. While it has been a year of starts and stops for our students and staff, we have shown our Dragon Spirit and persevered. I am grateful for the partnership of our families in helping us to have a successful school year, despite the many challenges. Thank you!
In Partnership

End of Year Dance for 7th & 8th Grade Students
OGMS is hosting a 7th & 8th Grade Formal Dance after school on June 7th from 4:15-5:45pm. There will be a DJ and light snacks for the students. This is an opportunity for students to enjoy their time together on the dance floor as this school year comes to a close.
SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE Ockley Green Summer School for Rising 7th & 8th Graders
Summer Acceleration Academy has been reduced and is not offering programming to Middle School students. At Ockley Green, we have received grant funding to offer Summer Enrichment Programming to our current students that will be in 7th & 8th Grade next year. We have finished our priority registration and are now opening up registration to any Ockley Green student that will be in 7th or 8th grade next year.
We want to invite your student to join us this summer! All students will receive Language Arts & Math instruction and multiple elective classes. This will be a great opportunity for students to reinforce learning, engage in exciting electives and prepare for their upcoming academic year. The day will start at 9:25 am and end at 2:00 pm. Students will be provided breakfast, snack and lunch each day.
See below for a QR Code and link that will get you to the registration form. Registration will be open until June 3rd.
Yearbooks
Yearbook sales have ended, but we do have 14 yearbooks left to purchase for anyone who may not have gotten the chance.
If you are interested, please call the main office and ask for Grace Duncan. Yearbooks are $15 each and we will not be getting any more ordered in. They will be first come first served.
Please Share Your Feedback
The Successful School Survey has been extended to June 7th.
We currently have 46 responses, which is quite a bit below last year's 160 responses.
We would greatly appreciate it if you would take 15 minutes to provide us your feedback on Academic Perception, Barriers to Engagement, School Safety, Communication and School Climate.
Thank you in advance for your participation as it will allow us to make thoughtful and well-informed decisions about school climate and culture. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Ms. JJB in the office at jjardeeborquist@pps.net.

FIRST Lego League Coach Needed for 24-25 School Year
From our SUN Coordinator
SUN is looking for one more coach to round out our team for the upcoming FIRST Lego League season (begins in the fall)! Coaches will help our team of about 8 students prepare for a tournament, where they will compete against other teams from all around the state. The kids will build a Lego robot and program it to solve a series of puzzles on this year's game board, as well as preparing a science-fair style presentation on a STEM topic of their choosing. As a coach, our main role is to help inspire the kids and help them brainstorm ideas for their presentation, and for how to design and code the robot. We simply guide them to use their own creativity to make sure that they are ready to participate in the tournament and have a great time doing it. Coding and engineering experience is not necessary, and some of us who have coached before will be there to help guide you through the process from the beginning!
