Dear Tiger Families,

I hope that this correspondence finds you and your family well during these warm humid days of late August. I'm #WPProud to share that we are ready for the 2024-2025 academic year! Our building is getting its finishing touches in the remaining days by our dedicated support staff and facilities team, while our faculty and staff kick-off their year by participating in professional development during our Superintendent's Conference Days next week.

I would like our Tiger community to join me in welcoming our newest member of the WPHS Leadership Team, East House Administrator, Ms. Cesilie Vega. Ms. Vega replaces Ms. Khali Murrell. Ms. Vega is no stranger to WPHS; she has been a member of the Social Studies Department for the past 5 years.

We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2028 on September 5th for our Freshmen Orientation in the morning.

A few reminders:

• School begins at 7:40 AM. Please be sure your child arrives to school on time. Lateness to school has a direct impact on student success.
• Please ensure your child brings their necessary items (lunch, assignments, iPad, instrument, etc.) to school daily. Parent drop-off of such items (listed above) are discouraged, as we continue to limit access to the school building.
• Please call your child's House Office for Attendance notifications.

Los estudiantes deben presentarse en su parada de autobús 3 1/2 horas más tarde. Ejemplo: si la hora de recogida de su autobús es a las 7000 a. m., la hora de recogida retrasada será a las 10:30 a. m.

Schedules will be available on the Portal on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 3PM.

Our Freshmen Orientation will provide our newest Tigers with the opportunity to meet the School Administration, guidance counselors, learn about getting involved, and a building tour.

Students will also have the opportunity to return their old Highlands MS iPad and receive their WPHS iPad that they will use for all 4 years at WPHS.

Please note that due to the demolition of Damman House and site work for our future I-Building, our traffic pattern has changed. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with drop off locations and as always drive carefully on campus grounds.

Juniors and Seniors are allowed to leave campus with parental permission. Students are required to submit Permission to Leave Forms available in their Hosue Office. Students must leave and enter through the Auditorium Entrance and check-in with Security.

Freshmen and Sophomores are NOT allowed to leave campus.

Parents be sure to join the PTA!

The PTA provides support to our school community in a variety of ways, such as grants, staff appreciation, and scholarships!

White Plains High School, located on a beautiful 75-acre campus, offers almost 400 courses to ninth through twelfth graders. The district takes great pride in the school's rich diversity, unique breadth of educational opportunity, impressive facilities and highly qualified staff.

From Advanced Placement courses in all major subjects to participation in the Advanced College Experience (ACE) Program at Westchester Community College, the quality of the school's programs is reflected each year in the honors and awards achieved by individual students, teams and clubs. Extracurricular programs include more than 50 clubs, the literary publication The Roar, and performing arts groups. In addition, the school competitively fields over 45 New York State Section I athletic teams. The school was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as a School of Excellence in l986-87.
