GV Weekly Up-Date May 12, 2025

The Ohio Department of Education recognized PCSD as one of the top 7% of improving districts in Ohio for our 2023 Report Card.

Dear Green Valley Families,

Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful day. This is a big week with several evening events. We have our Spring Concert on Thursday Night at Normandy at 7pm. Spring Fest is Friday, May 16th from 5:00- 7:30. We will have carnival games, Inflatables, chance to win baskets and 50/50 raffle. We will have 2 food trucks with Franks & Shakes and Kona Ice Truck. In the MPR we will have cotton candy. Just a reminder it is a cash only event.

Thank you PTA for a great Reading Rewards Shop. We have one more Reading Rewards Shop on May 28th. Continue to encourage your children to read to earn more reading points.

Please remember the drop off rules in the morning line. The students need to be able to get out of the car independently to our drop off staff. Please keep the line moving so we can allow for a smooth continuous flow of cars and a safe arrival for all.

We are fortunate to have Title One Services at Green Valley. Please take a moment to fill out the Family Survey. Title I Elementary Family Survey Thank you for helping us meet federal compliance guidelines by doing so.

Reading Celebration - Virtual Volunteers

We are excited to offer opportunities for family members to volunteer as virtual readers for our Reading Celebration. This initiative allows families to engage with our students without the need to physically come into the school. Our Reading Celebration is coming up on June 6, 2025. This is a fun day, filled with literacy based activities and rewards for all the reading minutes students have completed throughout the school year.

We would like to invite you to prepare a video of you reading a book aloud. These videos will be shared at a center during our Reading Celebration. If you are interested, complete the form below with the information requested. Please send videos to niroh@parmacityschools.org or wooc@parmacityschools.org by May 15.

Attendance Matters

Attendance Reminders
- If your child will be absent or tardy, please contact the Attendance Line at (440)885-2433 or email Shelia Ullman at ullmans@parmacityschools.org so the absence may be recorded.
- Please provide a doctor’s notes when your child sees a medical professional for appointments or illness.
- If you do not have a doctor’s note, you can also screenshot your child’s MyChart and can send them via email to our Home Liaison:
- If you know that your child will be missing an extended amount of school for vacation or out of town obligation, please contact our administrators. Vacation forms are approved or denied by a PV administrator. Per board policy, only five days of vacation are allowed.
If your child is sent home by the school clinic you must still call the office the next day to report their absence.
