Message from the Executive Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are well and truly getting into the Christmas spirit here at HJS.
It was a real pleasure to see so many HJS families at the HPPA Christmas Fair on Saturday. It was very well attended and raised welcome funds for HPPA. All pupils at HJS enjoyed a performance of Aladdin on Monday which this was funded by HPPA. HPPA will put out more information regarding the charity before the end of the year.
Tomorrow we will be taking the children to St Mary's church for their carol concert rehearsal ready for Monday. Please ensure your child is in full uniform both tomorrow and Monday. This year the carol concert programmes will be sent out by Arbor but please see the reminder of the times here. The performance will be live streamed and the details are at the top of the programme. Please share these with your family and friends who wish to watch the services.
đź”” 9.30 to10.15am - Years 3 and 4
đź”” 10.45am to 11.30am - Years 5 and 5
Please note that next week is not only the carol service but the Year 6 Christmas market. Tokens for the Christmas Market will be available to purchase until 12pm tomorrow only. After this time, tokens will not be able to be purchased. We also have our annual Christmas Jumper day which is a non uniform day but the children will need a festive jumper if they wish to participate. As you know we will be collecting wrapping paper next Friday and further details are provided below.
I would like to remind all parents about medical appointments within the school day. Routine appointments such as dental check ups should be taken outside of school hours. If your child has an urgent medical appointment within the school day, please provide the school admin team with as much notice as possible but at least 24 hours. This will ensure your child is waiting for collection. Last minute notice of these appointments is very disruptive for the class teachers and admin staff.
Mr James and I feel incredibly proud to have a team of staff (teachers, LSAs, admin and premises) who work incredibly hard to ensure that your child receives the very best education and experience at HJS. We often receive positive feedback for staff but this is your opportunity to let them know how much you appreciate their commitment by completing the eform. Your comments will be shared with the staff members you have named.
Have a lovely weekend
Ms H Lockey

HJS Cross Country Achievers
Twelve boys and girls took part in the Borough cross country race in Bushy Park recently over a 2.1km distance.
All the children performed very well resulting in HJS finishing in 13th place overall. Steph in year 6 was the first girl home in 27th place (out of 164 runners) and Arthur in year 6 was the first boy home in 52nd place (out of 179 runners). Congratulations to all and a big thank you to Mrs Fraser and Mrs Beaumont for taking the chidren to this event.
HJS Swimming Achiever
Congratulations to Olivia who achieved her first distance badge challenge last week.
The group was challenged to complete 1000m distance, however some swimmers asked if they could increase the distance to 2000m, which was agreed based on the availability of such badges.
Olivia was the youngest and the only girl in the group that took the challenge and was one of only 3 to complete it. Her teacher commented that she was quite impressed that at such a young age she was able to pace herself so well. Well done Olivia

MHST Coffee Morning: Managing Emotions
On Tuesday 14th January at 9am we will be holding a parent coffee morning in the Rose Hall at Hampton Junior School.
This coffee morning will be led by Jess Butler, the Child Wellbeing Practitioner allocated to our school from the Mental Health Support Team.
Jess will be doing a presentation around what emotional literacy is, as well as tips for promoting emotional literacy and effective emotion regulation at home. Following the presentation there will be the opportunity to ask questions and to share your tips and experiences with other parents and carers.
Parents from HISN and HJS are welcome to attend.
Christmas Paper Amnesty
HPP will be supporting Cocoon, a charity that hosts a Christmas DAY event for around 55 care leavers. Care leavers are young people who grew up within the care system within Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow. They are now adults who are aged 18-25 years and without this event they would sadly spend the day alone. This is their 8th year and HPPA have offered to help this year by collecting donations of wrapping paper as they will be wrapping for around 50 adults and 5 children. The charity are totally reliant on donations of EVERYTHING (from turkeys to crackers!) and your kind donations mean we don’t have to raise funds to buy wrapping paper. Please see their website for more information and a huge thank you from all at Cocoon for helping.
We will have a box available in the school office for all donatons of wrapping paper (be this full or half rolls of Christmas paper) the week commencing 9th December. Thank you for your support.
