Service Day & Staff Appreciation Next Week!
BWMS Community,
We are excited for our Service Day next Friday. This is a time of great pride for our school and an opportunity for us to see the unified effort of our school community working in the same shirt and with the same purpose - service to others. I can think of no better lesson for all of us, to slow down and do what we can to help others in need. We will share the service assignments for students on Wednesday. I want to thank our staff, students and greater Big Walnut community for working with our Principal Leadership Team to help make this day happen. Thank you for SOARing and going beyond all expectations.
Staff Appreciation and Service Day in the same week... I would say that is fitting. We are ready to celebrate the Teachers and Staff who made this year fantastic. I may be a little bias but I think the BWMS staff is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of calling colleagues. With that being said, help me make our staff feel special by encouraging your student to write a note of appreciation to the staff members who have been a positive influence to them this year. Believe me, these notes will stay visible for the years to come and offer words of encouragement and gratitude long after your student is gone from middle school.

Important Updates
- The end of year Teen Night is Tonight Friday 5/3/24 from 6PM-8PM. Cost is $5 at the door
- Staff Appreciation Week begins on Monday 5/6/24. Encourage your student to write a note to a staff of thanks.
- The BWMS Service Day is Friday 5/10/24. It is going to be great! Service lists will be posted on Wednesday 5/8/24 based on the ranking from your student. Ask your student where they will be after Wednesday.
- Student OMEA Band/Choir/Orchestra contest is Friday 5/10/24 at our High School.
- The Spring Concert for Band/Choir/Orchestra is on Tuesday 5/14/24 at our High School.
- BWMS will host an 8th grade only dance on Thursday 5/16/24 from 2:30-4:30 after school. Cost is $5 at the door.
- Incoming 6th grade parent orientation will be at 6:00 PM on Thursday 5/16/24. Incoming 7th grade parent orientation will be at 7:00 PM on Thursday 5/16/24. This event will be in our Auditorium.
