Message from the Principal
Dearest Mason Families,
What a fantastic start to the school year! I am so happy to celebrate our first full week of school, and the energy from both students and staff has been inspiring. It’s been wonderful to see everyone back and ready for a year filled with learning, growth, and new adventures.
Our Back to School Night was nothing short of amazing! We had one of our largest turnouts yet, with over 150 different family members joining us. Thank you to everyone who came out to learn more about what this school year holds for your children and to connect with our incredible teachers.
Additionally, we’ve completed the Wayne County hearing and vision screenings this week. If your child was identified as needing further support, you will receive a letter directly from Wayne County with more information. Looking ahead, Picture Day is scheduled for September 18th! Please refer to the flyer attached below in this newsletter for details and order forms.
I want to remind all families about the upcoming Sinking Fund Town Hall meeting on September 16th at Brownell Middle School from 6-7 p.m. This important session, hosted by Superintendent Dr. Tuttle, will provide valuable information about the Sinking Fund and how it will impact our district.
I also want to take a moment once again to express how much the staff and students are enjoying the new playground provided by our amazing PTO. It has truly been a highlight of our first full week back. I have included a picture above to share just how much we appreciate all that the PTO and our community did for our Mason family! As we continue through the school year, our commitment to "Moving Forward Together" as a Mason team and family remains strong. Together, we will ensure that each student thrives, supported by the partnership between school, families, and our incredible community. Thank you for your continued support, and as always, Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, and One Team!

Student Spotlight
We’d like to wish Bre Bokano good luck as she was one of the top 10 winners for the skills competition in her respective age group at the Detroit Tigers softball camp this summer held at the University of Liggett. She has now been invited to compete in the final Champions Day at Comerica Park on Friday September 20, 2024! We couldn’t be more proud of her hard work, efforts and progress that she has made. Good luck Bre…You’ve got this!

GPPSS Transportation Information
Board Policy provides for transportation services to all eligible students attending the school serviced by their attendance boundary. A student who lives beyond 1½ miles from the resident elementary school is considered eligible for transportation services. Board Policy does not allow bus transportation for In-District Transfers; you will be responsible for your own transportation to and from school.
We understand that not all students who are eligible for Transportation Services will choose to take advantage of those services; therefore, in order to create the most efficient bus routes, it is critical for us to know which eligible students will be riding the bus. You will not be scheduled to receive transportation services if you do not submit this form. Please fill out one form per child.
