Multicultural Night: January 16, 2025 6:30 pm – 7:45
We are so excited for Lombardy's Multicultural Night, an exciting and fun community event. We hope that ALL Lombardy families will join us as we learn about the different cultures and countries represented at our school. Wherever your family is from and whatever your traditions are, we all want to learn from each other as we celebrate our diversity!
All are welcome to attend! You can also host a table, perform, and/or bring samples of traditional food to share. You will earn flag stickers for your event "passport" as you travel from "country to country". The event is “open house” style for attendees, so you are welcome to come and go as you please until 7:45. (Presenters, please plan to stay the entire time.)
Speaking English is not a requirement; your presence/display can speak for itself!
For additional information, please contact Sarah Greco at sarah.greco@bsd.k12.de.us or Vicki Ventura at vicki.ventura@bsd.k12.de.us. To reach either teacher by phone, call 302-762-7190.

Bulldog Mentor Program
We are excited to announce the launch of our new Mentor Program, which currently pairs fourteen students from Lombardy Elementary with students from Brandywine High School! This initiative is designed to foster meaningful relationships between younger and older students, providing opportunities for mentorship, guidance, and friendship. Through this program, elementary students will benefit from the wisdom and support of high school mentors, while the high school students will have the chance to build leadership skills and make a positive impact in their community. We look forward to seeing the strong connections that will grow from this wonderful partnership!

Online Payment System for Field Trips
We’re excited to announce that starting January 1, 2025, our school will transition to an online payment system for all field trips. This change will streamline the payment process, making it more convenient for families to sign up and pay for upcoming trips securely from any device.
Please see the attachment for instructions on how to use the new system. We believe this will enhance your experience and help us better manage our school events.
Thank you for your continued support!

Reminder about am/pm drop-off and pick-up
Walkers: To ensure the safety of all our students, we want to remind everyone that only children who are walking to and from school should be considered walkers. Families who drive their students should use the designated car line for drop-off and pick-up. Please do not park in the parking lot and walk your child to the building. This causes a disruption to the traffic flow and is dangerous.
Parking on Simon Road: The Weldin Park Civic Association has asked that we refrain from parking on Simon Road when dropping off or picking up your children. Parking in this area can create safety hazards and disrupt traffic flow for the residents in this community. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our school community safe!
Car Line: Please make sure you follow the flow of traffic in the car line. Take an immediate right at the car line sign and follow the flow of traffic to the back of the school. Please be patient and cautious as you drive around the rear of the school. We will get your children in/out of the building as quickly and safely as we can.
2024 Attendance Challenge
Dear Families,
Welcome to the new school year--it's an exciting time for everyone! We're excited for a great year of learning and growth for all of our students!
This school year, the Brandywine School District is adopting the 4 Or Less = Success school attendance campaign to promote good student attendance. Good attendance means coming to school on time and staying all day, every day, which is key to every child’s success. After all, students must be present to learn!
All absences, whether excused or not, add up. Chronically absent students are more likely to read below grade level, have lower math and reading test scores, repeat a grade, and drop out of high school.
What you can do:
- Talk to your child about how going to school every day will help them do well in school and achieve their hopes and dreams.
- Keep an attendance chart at home to track absences.
- Recognize your child for attending school every day.
- Find a relative, friend, or neighbor who can take your child to and from school if you can’t.
- Set up medical appointments for weekdays after school.
- Make attending school every day a priority unless your child is truly sick
For more information and resources, visit www.brandywineschools.org/4orLess
The Brandywine School District wants all children to attend school each day so they can be successful in the future! We will be sending more information, materials, and tips about attendance throughout this school year. Please join us in making school attendance a priority so that we can help all of our children learn, achieve, and succeed.
School Nurse Information
Green emergency cards are coming home! Please take a few moments this weekend to fill out and return the student emergency cards. The three homerooms with the highest percentage of returned forms will win a prize!
Online Absence Forms
1) All cases of absence or late arrival
2) Requests for early dismissal
3) Notification of extended absence
To make this request process easier for our BSD families, we've created an electronic form. When you hit "send," the information you provide will automatically be sent to the attendance secretary at Lombardy Elementary School.
