Monday Notes!

Trick or treat! I know that has a special meaning to our general music teachers as the little ones can get a little wild this weak! Here is to only treats - and no tricks!

Questa HS is starting a drum line that will hopefully lead to revitalizing the music program. They are looking for several marching snares. Anyone have a few that they don't use any longer? If so, please reach out to Daniel Fear. Thanks!

NMMEA extends our heartfelt support to the teachers and students in Roswell as they begin to recover and rebuild following the recent flooding.

A special shout-out goes to Bryan Hunley, choir director at Roswell High School, for going above and beyond by uploading his students' All-State Auditions just days after the flood. Thank you, Bryan, for your dedication and hard work in making this possible. We also want to extend our thanks to Brandy Bullock for her invaluable assistance. This truly exemplifies the incredible spirit of music teachers!

As you know, the audition window for Band and Jazz auditions opens Wednesday! Please reference this link to review the audition process as well as a tutorial video.

Please review the above link but also keep in mind these important reminders regarding playback tracks:

• Opus will not play backing tracks (jazz improvisation & choral piece). These will need to be played on an external device. This should simplify the process for you (balance and computing power).
• Choral/Vocal Jazz excerpt accompaniment tracks are voice specific (the auditioned part must be muted). See NMMEA website for specifics.
• Instrumental Jazz students will only use a backing track for Improvisation. Backing tracks will not be used for the Swing & Funk etudes.

By now everyone should have received invoices for All-State auditions. Remember you must turn the invoice into your business office so they can mail a check. Make sure to remember to do this!

Make sure to register for the 2025 All-State Music Festival & In-Service Conference. You are not automatically registered just because you have students selected to participate! You must register via this link.

Audition results will be communicated via OpusEvent as soon as the rosters are completed. Please let your students know that calling or emailing us will not speed up the process!
