Legislative Priority 1: Fund Special Education

The priorities address key issues needing attention from legislators. Strategic Planning Committee advances work on mission and strategies
The 2025-30 Strategic Planning Steering Committee recently held its fourth meeting, focusing on finalizing the district’s mission statement, reviewing core values and advancing key strategies to support future goals.
The committee finalized a proposed mission statement emphasizing lifelong learning and purposeful preparation. Participants also revisited Blue Valley's core values, recommending a focused list of three to five guiding principles to better inform district decision-making and interactions.
Strategic priorities continued to take shape with two primary areas of focus:
Advancing Academic Excellence and Exceptional Student Experiences
Fostering Supportive and Healthy School Communities
Based on community survey feedback, the committee highlighted the importance of exemplary educators as a critical factor in student success.
The committee will continue to refine its proposals for consideration by the Board of Education in April, ensuring the final recommendations align with the district's vision and priorities.

Blue Valley students lead Kansas in 2024 state assessment scores
The results are in, and our students continue soaring to new heights in English, math and science.
According to 2024 Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) scores, Blue Valley students achieved the highest percentage of scores at 3 or above, outperforming all other Kansas districts and private school groups with 10,000 or more students.
This extraordinary achievement highlights the hard work and commitment of our students, truly reflecting what it means to be #ChampionsOfLearning!
Proposed 2026-27 calendar introduced to Board
The proposed 2026-27 school calendar was introduced at the Jan. 13 Board of Education meeting. The board will vote on the calendar at the February board meeting.
Significant dates included in the proposed 2026-27 school calendar:
First day of school - Aug. 13
Fall Break - Nov. 23-27
Winter Break - Dec. 21-Jan. 5
Spring Break - March 15-19
Tentative Graduation Ceremonies - May 15-16
HS only finals - 1/2 day May 21, 24 & 25
Last day of school - May 25 for grades K-11
Memorial Day - May 31
