📣 NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL 📣
As we move forward with the year I want to take this moment to encourage our students (and you as a parent to encourage your student) to get involved in one of the MANY social outlets offered here at Eagle Middle School! Try a sport! Our teams are not just for athletes who have played for years. There are so many opportunities for students to be involved in athletics at the middle level and it is a great time to try a sport, even if you're only in it for the fitness, fun or friendships! The physical fitness, social development and being involved with a group of peers offers amazing opportunities! Beyond athletics we offer more club opportunities than any middle school in the district. Watch the Newsletter for club start dates or encourage your middle school student to watch for these dates on the morning announcements. With athletics, clubs, student led organizations, dances and more, there are so many ways to engage at school! Encourage your student to be involved and engaged!

🎇 VETERAN'S DAY ASSEMBLY - NOVEMBER 11TH 🎇
ALTERNATE BELL SCHEDULE
EMS will be holding a Veterans Assembly on Monday, November 11th. We would love to be able to celebrate our Veterans in the community as we educate our students about the purpose of this important day. If you are a Veteran of the military, or are still actively serving, we invite you to join our assembly and be recognized. If you have a friend or family member who is a Veteran, please invite them to also attend. We request that you arrive prior to 8:10 am to avoid the parking lot traffic and get seated before students enter. We anticipate the assembly finishing by 9:30am. We look forward to celebrating with you!
This is also the day that our Athletic Leadership Team will be kicking off our Toys for Tots collection drive. There will be advisory level competitions to see which class can bring in the most toys to donate to the kids in our community. This event will run through December 3rd. We would appreciate any toys, new in the packaging, and unwrapped. There is typically a shortage of toys for kids in the 10-12 age range, so please consider that if you choose to help out.
🍕 CHANGE TO EMS LUNCHTIME PROCEDURES 🍕
Beginning on Monday October 28th, all students started transitioning outside for lunch starting 15 minutes into the lunch period. This change aims to provide our students with fresh air and a chance to enjoy the outdoors during their lunch break.
As we head into November weather, please remind your child to bring a jacket or coat. For those who prefer an indoor setting, students will still have the option to visit the library to quietly read or play board games.
We will continue to follow West Ada’s guidelines for holding students inside when it is snowing, raining, icy, or too cold (20 degrees or below). We appreciate your support in ensuring that our students are prepared for this new routine. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.

🚲 IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING E-BIKES AT SCHOOL 🚲
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of all our students, we would like to address a growing concern regarding the use of e-bikes (pedal assisted and non-pedal assisted) by students. While e-bikes are an increasingly popular mode of transportation, it is essential to ensure that they are being used responsibly, both for the safety of the rider and others in the community.
Important Information:
ALL Bikes: For student safety, students should walk their bikes while on campus (including the parking lots and crosswalks).
Pedal Assisted E-bikes: Please see the guidance for ALL Bikes.
Bike Parking: ALL bikes (including Pedal Assisted e-bikes) should be parked in designated bike racks and securely locked to prevent theft.
Non-Pedal Assisted Bikes: Note from Det. Kelch: Non-pedal assisted bikes cannot be driven on a public roadway unless the driver is licensed. That means that most middle school students cannot drive these bikes legally to and from school in the state of Idaho. E-Dirt Bikes are for off road use only. Sidewalks are also prohibited for use by E-Dirt Bikes.
We ask for your support in reminding your children of these safety measures and encouraging responsible e-bike use. Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and as always, thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.
Respectfully,
Eagle Middle Administration & School Resource Officer

Hello from the Library!
Please remind your student to return their library book(s). There are lots of overdue books out there. Students are welcome to come to the library on their own time before/after school and break. Students may also come to the library if it is open during their lunch. Students are on a regular library schedule and come to the library every other week with their ELA class.
Cold, damp weather has arrived! Please remind your student to protect their library book(s) from getting wet. It is an automatic replacement fine if the book is damaged by liquid.
The next Idaho Battle of the Books (IBOB) meeting is Fri. 11/8. This is an optional reading program. It’s like sports, but with BOOKS!
Literary Games begin Friday, November 1st! Please have your student listen to the announcements for more info. Or come to the library.
Technology: As the temperature begins to drop, please do not leave laptops in the car. Extremely cold weather can cause damage to an LCD screen.
If your student is having tech. issues with their laptop at home, please contact IT support at 208-350-5300 (8-4pm).
Thank you,
Sheila Luque
