Mid Year Exams
As outlined in the NLSchools Assessment and Evaluation Policy, students in grades 7-9 will complete mid year exams between Jan. 20th - Jan. 24th. Exams completed by grade level are listed below. Our tentative schedule for exams will be listed on our assessment calendar (found on our school website) prior to the holiday break.
Exams Written by Grade Level
- Grade 7 - Math
- Grade 8 - Math and Science
- Grade 9 - Math, Science, English Language Arts
Study Hall
In an effort to further support our students as they prepare for their upcoming exams, we will be offering our Study Hall weekly for the month of January. This is an opportunity for students to receive extra help in Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies and French. Study Hall sessions are from 2:45 to 3:45 each Tuesday in the LLC and available to ALL students in Grades 7,8 & 9. It is important to note that Study Hall is not meant for group study but is intended for quiet individual studying with an opportunity to ask a teacher questions. We encourage students to take the time to avail of these sessions as we approach mid term exams.
Personal Electronic Device Policy
NLSchools Personal Electronic Device policy will begin implementation on Monday, January 6th. This policy aligns with Paradise Intermediates exciting cell phone policy and will result in little to no change to current daily practice for our students. The policy can be found here or on NLSchools website.
Girls Hockey Team
Those families who have girls interested in playing Girls Hockey this season are asked to complete the attached form.
Supplies
As we return to school following our winter break, students are encouraged to replenish any necessary school supplies (pencils, pens, paper, etc.) and to ensure that chromebooks are charged and ready for use. French Immersion students are also encouraged to have French/English dictionaries for use, particularly as we prepare for upcoming midterm assessments.
Weather Related Closures
Our winter weather seems to have arrived and with it possible weather related closures. In the event that schools within the metro region are closed due to inclement weather, a message will be sent to families through our school messenger system. Information regarding closures will also be posted to the NLSchools website.
