Chapel Hill – Sunday, February 9, 2019 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. –

Bank of America Student Leaders Program
Student Leaders is an integral piece of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation's work and stems from our commitment to support the community leaders of today and tomorrow. The program is part of Bank of America's goal to support education and workforce development opportunities. As you know, young people ages 16-24 have been the hardest hit by the economy with high unemployment rates. Student Leaders provides young people with tangible work experience and insights into the important work of nonprofits in our communities. Through this program, we will recognize two junior or senior high school students in Forsyth & Guilford County (two total SL’s across both counties) with a passion for community service. Over 280 students will participate nation-wide.
Student Leaders will participate in two key components:
- An eight-week paid internship with selected nonprofit organizations during the summer.
- A week-long all-expense-paid Student Leaders Summit for all participants in Washington, D.C., July 8-13.
Please note the application deadline of February 1st, 2019. Students can apply for the program by going to:
Environmental Debate Tournament - March 16th, 2019
Join Piedmont Environmental Alliance and Wake Debate for the fourth annual Environmental Debate Tournament for high school students on March 16th. Debate is a fun way for students to develop critical thinking skills, question the status quo, and deepen understanding of key environmental topics. Research shows that high school debate students graduate at higher rates, score better on ACT and SAT tests, get into better colleges, and perform better once in college. The deadline for teachers to register as advisors is January 25, and the deadline for students to register is February 15. For more information, take a look at our Environmental Debate Guide or contact Melanie Eddington at melanie@peanc.org.
