A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
This weekend brings us St. Patrick's Day on Friday. I am lucky to be part of the Rainbow community! "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face this week!"
Speaking of green.... the district has gone ‘green’ with report cards and will utilize Home Access Center to communicate Second Trimester grades. For the second trimester, kindergarten families will receive paper copies of report cards so be sure to check your kindergarten student's bookbag for his/her report card. Families in Grades 1-5 will receive their student's first trimester report card through Home Access Center. Request for paper report cards can be sent to alessandroc@casdschools.org. Please include your student's name, grade, and teacher in your request.
Please be sure to read and review the Parent Home Access Guide below. It contains step by step instructions on how to create a Home Access account along with how to access your student's second trimester report card.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on, April 2, 2024. Spring conferences are by teacher invitation. If your child's teacher is requesting to meet with you to discuss your child's progress, he/she will reach out to you with a conference invitation.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Stauffer
Home Access Account Creation
Report cards are coming later this month. As you know, the district has transitioned to paperless report cards. It is important that parents/guardians have HAC accounts to view student report cards. You are now able to se up your own HAC account! If you need to set up an HAC account for your student(s), please follow the step-by-step directions below.
Below you will find, English and Spanish, step-by-step directions for creating your HAC account. Please contact Rainbow's school counselors with any questions.

PBIS Frequently Asked Questions (Part 2)
Essential features of the PBIS process?
PBIS framework provides a continuum of behavior supports within the school environment. The three-tiered prevention logic model requires that all students receive supports at the universal or primary tier. Building “universal” behavioral supports is the core of the process and defined as those supports that apply to all students, all staff, and all settings.
Universal supports are defined as a clearly defined set of positively stated rules with accompanying set of explicit positively stated behavior exemplars of each rule. Students and staff are taught these behavioral exemplars. An example of this is our Wildcat Code. The second level of the continuum focuses on at-risk students who need more than the universal supports for behavioral success. Interventions are provided for this targeted group of students. Finally, the third level of support is individualized and intensive. For the successful implementation and sustainability of this multi-tiered system of behavioral supports, administrative support and leadership is essential.
What does PBIS have to do with school discipline and classroom management?
Effective classroom management and preventive school discipline are essential for supporting teaching and learning. PBIS goes further by emphasizing that classroom management and preventive school discipline must be integrated and working together with effective academic instruction in a positive and safe school climate to maximize success for all students.

March: Music in Our Schools Month
March is Music in Our Schools Month! This month, we acknowledge the important part music plays in our lives, how it can impact all of us in different ways, and the role it plays in our school community. Parents, administrators, and the wider community often only see the wonderful results of our music concerts; however, we miss the months of practice and rehearsals and more importantly the learning process that takes place to make it all happen.
In every school across Coatesville, music teachers dedicate themselves to providing excellent music education to all students. At Rainbow, our 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to be part of our amazing Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. To hear our very talented musicians in person, please come to our Spring Band, Orchestra, and Chorus concert on Tuesday, May 14th, at Rainbow at 7:00 pm!
Getting Ready for PSSA Grades 3-5
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires all school districts to administer the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in English language arts, mathematics, and science. The dates of the testing windows established by the PA Department of Education (PDE) are listed here so that you are aware of the upcoming testing.
- English Language Arts – April 22-April 26 (grades 3 - 5)
- Math – April 29-April 30 (grades 3 - 5)
- Science - May 1 and May 2 (grade 4 only)
While assessment scores represent a snapshot in time of student performance and should not be considered the sole indicator of student achievement, your students participation in testing is important. Data obtained from each assessment serves as one of the tools for planning school programs, designing curriculum and instruction, and providing information to the public.
