We want to extend a huge congrats to our very own Ms. Barnes for her recognition as TEACHER OF THE GAME at the University of Michigan's Basketball game on the 19th! Students and staff alike appreciate Ms. Barnes for the kindness, joy, and level of instruction she provides in her classroom. We are so proud of her!

Attention Franklin Hornets, families, and staff: It's time to dive into the 2025 Swim Season! This coed team is open to all eligible students, and we can't wait to see you make a splash!

Season Kickoff:

• Start Date: Week of February 3, 2025
• Practice Location: WMHS Pool
• Practice Times: 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Practice Dates:

• February: 2/3, 2/4, 2/5, 2/6, 2/7, 2/10, 2/11, 2/12, 2/13, 2/14, 2/15
• Winter Break: No practices 2/17–2/21
• February/March: 2/24, 2/26, 2/27, 2/28, 3/3, 3/5, 3/6, 3/7, 3/10

Meet Schedule:

• 2/25: Home meet vs. McBride at WMHS, starting at 4:30 PM
• 3/4: Away meet at Belleville HS vs. McBride, starting at 4:00 PM
• 3/11: Tri-City Meet at WMHS, starting at 4:30 PM

End-of-Season Party:

• Date: 3/13
• Location: WMHS Pool
• Time: 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Important Reminder:

All swimmers must have a completed sports physical submitted to the FMS office prior to or on the day of tryouts to participate. No exceptions!

We are so excited to kick off this season and can't wait to see our swimmers shine in the pool. Let’s make this the best season yet, Hornets!

Parents if you were unable to attend the meeting, attached is the information. Please contact Shayla Weston at Westons@wwcsd.net if you have any questions.

If your child’s bus is canceled, please make sure to inform the school by calling the attendance line or speaking with our counseling secretary Ms. Braswell. Let them know that the absence is due to a bus cancellation. The secretary will mark your child’s attendance with a “B” for bus cancellation, which will not count against them for truancy purposes.

Franklin Middle School and New Hope Baptist Church are hosting our annual coat drive for our students. We are reaching out to our Franklin Middle and Hicks Elementary communities to be of service. There are coat closets at these locations throughout the year. It is in the spirit of service that we commit to serving others. We thank you for your collaboration in this endeavor. Please send an email to Ms. Daniels at danielsr@wwcsd.net or 734-419-2409 if you are interested in receiving a coat for your student.

Please see the attached document for an overview of some keys policies pertaining to cellphones, headphones, earbuds, hats, hoodies and backpacks. We will review these policies with students during our grade level assemblies.
