EPSD9 Transportation
Greetings EPSD9 Bus Riders,
We have been working on upgrading to the latest version of our Traversa Student Transportation software since the last school year. The enhanced Traversa system includes many exciting new features. This includes better parent communications about bus routes, bus stops, and real-time access to the location of each bus and rider at all times.
So far, we have achieved the following milestones:
1. Installed tablets on all buses, providing bus routing information, bus stops, and monitoring of
student entry and exit.
2. Reached the final stages of integrating Traversa with Synergy, our student records management
system, allowing staff and parents to access students' bus route information through ParentVUE.
3. Reviewed and updated student demographic data in the Traversa system for more accurate
operation.
4. Used the Traversa bus routing software to improve the organization of White City routes and bus
stops.
5. Piloted the use of Traversa’s student Transportation Cards with select groups of students in the
spring.
6. Revised walking boundary maps based on state-mandated “walking boundaries” for each school and
communicated these changes to affected families.
7. Fully implemented the Fields Trips module within the Traversa system for managing all field trips and
athletics trips.
The final step involves issuing Traversa Transportation Cards to all students to better manage bus ridership and provide real-time access to the location of every school bus and rider. We plan to issue the new transportation cards to riders around October 1st and implement a companion software called “My Ride K-12” at the same time. This companion software will allow parents to access additional transportation data, including bus route information and the real-time location of every student on the bus. More information on the Transportation Cards and “My Ride K-12” will be sent out in the next few weeks.
Thank you for your cooperation with this transition.

Eagle Point High School Athletics
WELCOME David Ehrhardt!
I am honored to be the new director of athletics and activities at the high school and look forward to engaging all of the communities our district serves. We want to provide ongoing opportunities for kids in the Eagle Point School District to be active while partnering with their families throughout the process.
The district has created a strategic plan for athletics and activities with a clear mission and vision. As a district we will work diligently to improve and maintain student participation, communication about district programs and community involvement while building the leaders of today and tomorrow. As families of our kids, you will hear from us often about ways your student can be involved in athletics and activities as we all work to fly together in the district.
Our high school programs and coaches/advisors will be leaders in this effort as opportunities will be offered to Future Eagles in all that we do. Current EPHS students will assist in coaching our Flight Club Camps, working closely with the younger kids who will one day participate at the high school level.
We'll also celebrate the work of our programs at the high school. Throughout the year we will host events on a regular basis and always invite the communities to be part of the fun. Youth programs will regularly be recognized at EPHS events and we celebrate past, present and future Eagles. We'll also take our celebrations to the community, including the first-ever Hall of Fame Fun Run and Walk. This event will be held on Saturday, October 19 at the high school and will serve as a fundraiser for our high school cross country and track and field programs. It will also help us recognize the three individuals and one team that will be enshrined in our EPHS Athletic Hall of Fame on October 18.
We'll celebrate with the communities, including our annual homecoming parade and game (Nov. 1) as well as special nights at games during the year (First Responder Night at a game this fall and Military Appreciation Night during the winter sports season).
Social media (@WeREPeagles on Instagram, Facebook and X) and our website at eaglepointeagles.com will be used to keep you updated.
I look forward to seeing you at our athletic and activity event as we band together to Take Flight in the Eagle Point School District. You can always reach me by email at ehrhardtd@eaglepnt.k12.or.us or by phone at 541-830-1300, extension 6609.

Eagle Point
Eagle Point, Oregon and Shōwa, Japan
Showa, Japan, is Eagle Point's Sister City. Our enduring relationship traces back over 30 years to when Showa representatives recognized the striking resemblances between our two cities and were deeply moved by the camaraderie and spirit of our community.
The 2024 trip to Showa, Japan, proved to be a monumental success, as 12 students from Eagle Point embarked on an unforgettable journey.
Who is eligible to participate in the Showa Sister City visit?
We are seeking 9th-grade students who are enthusiastic about exploring Showa. Applicants should either be residents of Eagle Point or exhibit a significant affiliation with the city or its schools.
How can students apply, and what is the anticipated cost?
We will handpick 12 students based on their applications, which must include teacher recommendations. The application deadline is November 1st, 2024. Airfare is estimated to cost around $2000. The selected students will participate in a verity of fundraising activities to pay for their flights.
With a combination of fundraising and donations, The Eagle Point/Upper Rogue Community Foundation and the Eagle Point/Showa Home Stay Committee plan to secure at least half of the expenses.
Where will the students be accommodated?
This program includes a "Home Stay" arrangement. Students will be placed in pairs with host families, each with a student of similar age. They will stay with the host families in the evenings and during the day, they will rejoin the main group.
What activities will the students engage in during their time in Japan?
Students will have the opportunity to attend classes as guests at the local high school. Additionally, there will be sightseeing excursions and pre-planned activities. Note: The travel group will be accompanied by adult chaperones and interpreters.
