Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue
This should be amazing. I can’t wait to visit the Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue on Friday April 12th. This is a very exciting opportunity. We will be learning all about what they do, the birds they rescue and release and also their education birds.
We will start in the classroom at school, where we will spend about an hour learning about birds and the issues they face. We will also write three well thought out questions that we can ask at the bird rescue.
As always this trip is parent accompanied. We encourage as many parents to come as can. Let’s learn and have fun with the kids. Once I have three confirmed chaperones We can take a limited number of unaccompanied students in the vans on a first come first served basis.
Please RSVP by Wednesday April 10th so we can see if we have to run one or two groups. Also, please let me know if your child needs to ride in a van. Please reply to dmolotsky@ptschools.org

Change in class schedule April 15-19
The week of April 15 NO CLASSES will take place from 8:30-10:30am to allow for testing. The regular class schedule will begin at 10:30 each day.
The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career. For students in grade 10, passing scores on the Smarter Balanced tests can also be used as a graduation pathway. Participating in the math and ELA testing is a graduation requirement.
Some 11th and 12th grades have also been contacted to participate in Math and ELA testing. If you received notification from the school counselor to participate it is needed to meet a graduation requirement. High school students earning a passing score on any of the state testing may be able to earn proficiency credits for previously failed courses.
The ASVAB is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. It is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. High school students can take this test, generally in 11th or 12th grade. Passing score on this test will qualify for a graduation pathway and may be used to earn proficiency credits for previously failed courses.
If students would like to preview the tests to get used to the format and questions types they can use the link above to find practice and training tests.
