June 6 Newsletter

We have much to be thankful for and to celebrate at the conclusion of our 2023-2024 academic school year. I am proud of the growth and learning our students have achieved. The strides made, particularly in core subjects like literacy and mathematics, are inspiring and are reflected in our state report card. While we celebrate the past year's accomplishments, we also acknowledge that the learning that has transpired is ongoing. Everyone can contribute and be a part of the successes of our students.
Our families are integral to our student's academic, social, and emotional growth. I thank you for supporting your child(ren) 's education. We consider it a privilege to have your child(ren) a part of the School District of Beloit family. We look forward to staying connected with you this summer through our Summer School program and the many family engagement events planned this summer.
From elementary through high school, our students have elevated our district locally, regionally, and nationally with academic achievements and honors, performing and creative arts awards, State of Wisconsin work-based learning recognition, philanthropic endeavors, and athletic competitions at the regional, sectional, and State levels. Please take a moment to view our headlines and highlights. When talent meets hard work, nothing is impossible; our students have proven this to be true time and time again.
Our staff is deeply committed to our students' academic successes, social and emotional growth, and well-being. Throughout this school year, they have supported our students with resources, engaging learning environments, guidance, and much more. They nurtured and cultivated our students' curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Our staff is dedicated to shaping tomorrow's future leaders, innovators, and trailblazers. Recently, we celebrated the dedication of numerous staff members for their years of service, and we honored our 2024 retirees. We created a video capturing these recognitions and encourage you to take a moment to view it.
I am also grateful for our more than 1,400 volunteers and many community organizations and business partners who collaborate with our district and connect with our staff and students each and every day. Hands-on learning experiences, presentations within our schools and classrooms, internships, job shadows, mentoring, and more are made possible thanks to volunteers and our community partners' invaluable support and active engagement. We thank and honor our volunteers and partners at our Community Awards and Recognitions each month. You can view this school year's awards and recognitions on this webpage.
I extend my heartfelt wishes to our Class of 2024 as they begin a new chapter in their lives. We have prepared them to be career, college, and community ready. We are happy that they will carry on the Purple Knight legacy. We are a better district, high school, and community because of their contributions in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage, with local non-profits, and in our community.
Lastly, as we close out this school year, please know that we are taking time to reflect and prepare for the upcoming school year. We recognize the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive and grow academically. My three priorities for our district remain resolute: student academic achievement, continuous improvement, and service at the highest level. Our 2024-2025 school year planning will center around those priorities.
Enjoy your summer break! Take time to unplug, unwind, and enjoy connecting with family and friends.
In service,
Dr. Willie E. Garrison II
School District of Beloit Superintendent
