PBIS Fall Festival Fun

It's hard to believe that we have completed the first trimester! The weeks have flown by, and it's amazing to see how much these children have grown. At the start of the year, our staff met as a collective team to discuss rules and behaviors that would be the expectations set for students.

Kolmar 1st Graders Take a Trip to Konow's Farm

In October, the Kolmar 1st graders took a trip to Konow's farm. The field trip connected to what they were learning in science about the Earth, seasons, and life cycles. The students, teachers, and chaperones all had an absolute blast.

Wheat Could be Cuter than Preschool Bread Makers!

As part of their current Bread Study, the MWF afternoon Tuition Preschool class was able to benefit from the expertise of preschool parent and owner of local bakery, QuinnCakes by George, Mr. George Gaitan. After reading fiction and non-fiction texts such as The Bread Pet by Kate DePalma, students were able to go through the process of making sourdough bread with Mr. Gaitan.

A "Beacon of Hope" Mural for OLHMS

Erika's Lighthouse Teen Empowerment Club, sponsored by OLHMS Counselors Mrs. Follmar and Mrs. Hoeksema, gives students a chance to make a difference in their school community. Members of this club normalize mental illness, promote positive mental health, and build a culture of inclusiveness throughout the year.

8th Grade Girls Basketball Night

Our 8th grade OLHMS girls basketball players were honored as they walked onto the court on Thursday, November 16th against Conrady. Coach Danos and her Lady Mustangs advanced to a record of 9-1, which places them 2nd in the conference. In Thursday's game, Sofia F. led all players in points, Nadine L.

Cougar Store is now Open!

Exciting News! Covington School has opened their cougar store this past Tuesday. Students where jumping with joy to be able to use their cougar cash to buy various items such as fidgets, perfume, game boards and more! This reward system is designed to recognize and incentivize thier hard work and achievements.

Transformed Media Centers Prepare Today's Learners for Tomorrow's World

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 continued the district wide media center renovation project with the recently remodeled Covington and Hannum school libraries. These renovated spaces provide excellent learning and collaboration opportunities for students to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Covington's media center has been operating for about two months and students are loving the space.

Red Carpet Reading Night

Thursday was a Red Carpet Reading Night and official ribbon cutting for the new Hannum Media Center. Media specialists, Mrs. Lazinek and Mrs. Keblusek had the honors of cutting the ribbon. Mrs. Doornbos stated that it was a well awaited renovation since the previous library had remained unchanged since she was a student at Hannum.
