Family Bulletin: August 4th
Message from the Principal
Dear Darden Learning Community,
Last evening the SBCSC Board of Trustees approved the 2020-2021 SBCSC school reopening plan. The SBCSC plan highlights details for the beginning of the school year, teacher expectations and parental support.
Darden is committed to following the SBCSC plan by providing high quality academic, social and emotional instruction for all our students. SBCSC's primary focus is use current data to guide decision making that will keep students, teachers, and staff safe throughout the school year.
Darden students begin the new year with e-learning Instruction on August 12th. Students have been placed in classrooms and the parent portal will open for viewing on August 5th.
On August 12th all students will receive an invite to join this years Google Classroom. This invite will appear when the students log into their chromebook. Our teachers and staff will reach out to all the students who do not log into their Google Classrooms on August 12th to provide support.
After a few months of summer break our goal is to ease into learning. During the first two weeks we will increase our students academic stamina. Darden students will be engaged in building relationships with their new teacher and classmates during the mornings from August 12th to the 21st. The Darden staff have planned for our students to read rich literature that promotes equity, inclusion through social and emotional lessons, activities, and group discussions. The theme of our first week of learning will be Belonging Together! Darden students will realize that their voice belongs in their class & is needed.
Every afternoon from noon until 3:10pm on August 12th to the 21st our staff will be participating in professional learning. We will expect all teachers and staff to provide virtual small group instruction this fall and prepare 5 minute whole group mini lessons.
On August 24th our students and staff will be ready to begin full day instruction based on the ELA & Math IDOE's grade level priority standards.
Please read the SBCSC School Reopening information on the sb.school website.
