NOHL CANYON ROADRUNNER NEWS
NOVEMBER 10th - 16th: WEEKLY PUBLICATION
Message from Principal Strickland
Wishing all Nohl Canyon families a wonderful Veterans Day. We thank all service members past and present for their service!
Field of Valor is happening now. Please see info below for a listing of events happening over the weekend.
The Nohl Canyon musical is here! Performances of Cinderella will take place at El Rancho Charter Middle School on Thursday and Friday evening 6pm. Ticket information below.
As we move closer to the Thanksgiving Holiday, we encourage all families to stop by and check the NC Lost and Found. We have a number of sweatshirts, lunch boxes, and water bottles piling up. We will donate any items not retrieved over the Thanksgiving break.
We thank families for their generous donation of NC Uniforms. For the time being, please hold off on any new donations as we are out of space. Our next uniform donation will take place at the end of the school year.
If you have not already had the chance, please take the LCAP survey (links below). Your feedback is vital at helping the district apportion resources where you see them most needed. We very much appreciate you taking the time to provide your thoughts and ideas.
A friendly reminder, November 11th is a no school, non-student day. November 15th will be a Minimum Day due to the end of the trimester.
A great week to all Roadrunners!

Student of the Month - November Focus - R.A.D.
Student of the Month Recognition - November Focus - R.A.D. + O
This month's focus for our Student of the Month will include our guiding concept for our school: RAD Roadrunners. Each Core Belief has a corresponding Expectation that guides students both inside and outside of the classroom environment. As part of this concept we believe embodying these qualities and setting and working toward small goals on a daily basis will help our students Win the Day (school motto)! This month, each teacher will recognize four students that embody these qualities. Winning student families will be invited by their child's teacher to an awards ceremony on December 5th.
Core Belief (Expectation):
Respectful (Kindness)
Accountable (Ownership)
Dedicated (Resilient)
O = Outstanding Roadrunner (All qualities)
NC Book Fair
NC Book Fair - November 12-19
Get ready – the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to
connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again.
Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love
of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits – including academic success and
improved mental health.

Parking Lot Procedures
Parking Lot Procedures
Thank you for making our parking lot procedures during drop-off and pick-up a safe and efficient machine. We serve a large number of vehicles in a short period of time.
Thank you for your continued help with a few critical items:
- Supervision is provided 15 minutes before the start of school and 15 minutes after student release. Any earlier or later drop-off or pick-up needs should contact CARES if added supervision is needed.
- Please remember our Lower lot (including angled spaces in front of the office) is Staff Only Parking. The lower entrance on Nohl Canyon RD is ENTRANCE ONLY in the Afternoon for Middle Lane traffic going to park in the FAR lot. Two-way use of this entrance presents a significant hazard to entering cars and pedestrian traffic.
- Please do not park in designated Reserved Spaces (Staff/CARES/Handicap).
- Please be kind to our parking lot volunteers. They make the whole thing work.
- Please ask your kiddos to walk when in front of school. Running children in the pick up area presents several hazards. Safety is our first priority.
- Trinity School Parking Lot is CLOSED for drop-off and pick-up parking.
- Parents, with respect to Trinity Pre-School and their families, we are not allowing Nohl Canyon families to park in the Trinity parking lot. Please follow this guideline and support us in keeping a positive community relationship with Trinity School. Trinity will often allow us to use their lot for special events but should not be used for drop-off or pick-up.
- Please remain clear of the Trinity lawn areas. Trinity lawns should not be used for students waiting for drop-off or pick-up. Students should always be picked up from our school site. If students are still here after 2:40pm, we bring them behind our school gates into our QUAD area for safety until parent pick-up. Please do not have your students wait at the Trinity site for pick-up.
- Please be sure to use crosswalks when crossing all major roads. Students being dropped off on Nohl Canyon Rd. and then proceeding across the street, presents a significant hazard to those students.
- Keep in mind, the Nohl Canyon Rd. entrance to our parking area is only to be used during afternoon pick-up and is limited to Middle Lane traffic that is pulling all the way through the lot to park in the back school lot.
Parents, Please watch the following video on Parking Lot Procedures

Nohl Canyon has a student uniform policy that is in alignment with the districts uniform policy. Based upon the interest of Nohl Canyon parents and staff, our school will continue with our Student Uniform Policy.
