Happy February, Cardinal Families!
Another month has passed, and we are now on the downhill side of the school year. This is the time when time seems to fly with our events and our planning for next year. By now, your student should be about 25% into their 2nd semester classes (Module 23 for K-5). In order to stay on track, the average student should be working a "normal" school day of 4-5 hours per day. The beauty of our program is that our students can create their own schedule and work how it suits them. Whether it's a solid chunk of time or broken up into smaller intervals, they have that flexibility. As long as they put in the time, the progress bars should "stay in the blue." (See pictures below for how to check progress.)
Upcoming Events & Reminders:
(Wish for) Snow Spirit Week: Week of 2/10-2/14! Show your school spirit by dressing up for your meetings or whole class sessions!
ELPAC Testing: Our English Learner students have to take the yearly required state EL proficiency test. Please make sure your student arrives on time and with their computer for testing.
LCAP Survey. This has been sent out by the district (and is linked here). It is vital that we receive your feedback: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YGWMXVH. Your feedback helps us plan activities and budget for the needs of our school. We have started more field trips, our student success center, and various school events based on the responses from our parents, students, and staff. We want Tracy Charter to be a place for students to not only find academic success but also build meaningful connections with their school community.
State Testing. Please see the calendar below for our upcoming SBAC Testing for 3rd-8th and 11th graders. Your child is required to come IN PERSON for testing. Please plan accordingly.
Last but definitely not least, February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate and honor the achievements, contributions, and history of Black individuals throughout the world. We encourage families to take time this month to learn, discuss, and engage in activities that recognize the importance of Black history and culture. Please see the resources section for a link to some great videos and activities.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Tracy Charter School a place where students can thrive. Keep up the great work, stay focused, and remember that every small step forward brings you closer to success. You've got this, Cardinals!
Sincerely,
Annabelle Lee
