Almond Thursday Word
9/19/19
From the Principal
Dear Almond Families:
Our Almond walkathon is almost upon us (Saturday, Oct. 12) and the deadline to guarantee t-shirt sizes is TODAY! Please go to almondwat.weebly.com to sign up. Also, if you haven’t already done so, please don’t forget to sponsor your child. The PTA is requesting a donation of $75 per child. These funds go directly towards Almond student programs, equipment and supplies, technology, and classroom and teacher support. Thank you to those of you who have already donated!
Safety comes first at Almond and we would like to take a moment to remind everyone on the ways we can keep our students and adults safe in the parking lot:
Pull your car close to the one ahead of you before letting students out. This leaves more room for other cars to enter drive through.
Please have students exit on the passenger side only.
No drop off/pick up at the 2nd lane!
Drivers MUST stay in car at all times.
Please do not leave your car unattended by the yellow curb especially 8:10-8:40 or 2:20-3:20.
Please use the crosswalk, and be aware of traffic. Walking while using your cell phone can be dangerous.
Bikes and scooters must be walked as soon as they are on campus.
Here’s to keeping our Almond ohana safe!
Raquel

Community Engagement Process for Our Local Schools
The Los Altos School District (LASD) has initiated a Community Engagement Process to involve the public in formulating a long-term facilities plan to house Bullis Charter School (BCS) and ensure a top quality education for all children.
We value your perspective and welcome your participation in a process to envision the future of education in our neighborhoods.
Please join us for one of the charrettes
(Each charrette will have the same format, so you only need to attend one)
Wednesday, September 25, 6:30-8:30pm
Blach Intermediate School Multipurpose Room
1120 Covington Rd.
OR
Saturday, October 5, 9:30-11:30 am
Egan Junior High School Multipurpose Room
100 W. Portola Ave.
As a participant in the upcoming charrettes, you will work in a small group to review previously considered ideas and help generate new ideas for the community to discuss and consider. You will have a chance to evaluate these ideas at subsequent workshops in November. Our process consultant, MIG, will then organize and summarize the results, which will be presented to the LASD Board in January.
For more information visit LASD’s Community Engagement webpage. Please email communityengagement@lasdschools.org with any questions.
