THE ADMINISTRATOR'S CORNER
Greetings Shady Grove Families! Happy Sunday and on behalf of all of us at SGMS we wish all of our mothers and mother figures in our community a very Happy Motherβs Day today. As a reminder, there will be No School on Tuesday, 5/14, due to Primary Election Day. We would like to thank all of our families and students for a tremendously successful Multicultural Night this past Thursday. In other celebratory news, congratulations to our very own 8th grade students Grace Thorne-Keziah and Dasha Diahilieva who won 2nd place in the countywide Keeping it Safe video contest. Their 30 second video beat out 60 other student submissions and focused on preventing underage alcohol use. Congratulations again Grace and Dasha! We enjoyed celebrating alongside each of you and sharing our rich and diverse community. This Wednesday 5/15 at 6:30 PM we will hold our annual Athletics Ceremony in the cafeteria to honor all of our student athletes from each of our sports seasons this year. Also on Wednesday at 6:30 PM, we will hold our PTSA meeting in person in the media center please join us! On Thursday 5/16 our 8th-grade students will begin their final test of the school year, the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program [MCAP] Social Studies 8 exam in their Social Studies classroom or other specific testing location. Please ensure that your 8th grader charges their Chromebook each night in preparation to do their best. All students at the end of the year will be required to turn in their chromebook and chargers for them to be refurbished for use in the fall. Students will be charged if their chromebook and charger are not returned. Lastly all Student Service Learning forms for service performed between June 2023 and now are due to the Media Center by 5/31. That is all for now #TimberwolfNation! Wishing you all a fantastic week!
