Students Join in at the Board Meeting
Student leaders from Los Padres Elementary, who are attending the District's Summer STEAM Camp, recited the Pledge of Allegiance to open the June 18 Board of Trustees meeting. Thank you Jaylah Arreola, Sofia Zamora, Julian Talavera and Vice Principal Christina Perez for joining our meeting.
Acknowledging Staff Accomplishments
At the June 18 meeting, the Board of Trustees acknowledged Roberto Ocampo and Krysta Bradley for professional accomplishments during the 2023-2024 school year. Roberto Ocampo, Assistant Director of Instructional Technology, was acknowledged for earning his Technology Management Advancement Program Certification from California IT in Education, and Krysta Bradley, Teacher on Special Assignment for Instructional Technology, was acknowledged for leading staff in developing and holding the District's first Student Film Festival, which took place at Boronda Meadows on April 19.

Maintaining Fiscal Solvency
At the June 18 meeting, the Board took action on the following items:
- Approval of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which is the District's roadmap to the Local Control Funding Formula and to student achievement
- Approval of the District's operating budget for 2024-2025
Strong Relations as a Community
Board Vice President and Area 5 Trustee Jessica Powell (far right) volunteered with local high school students for a fundraising event.
Board Clerk and Area 3 Trustee Belia Garcia (at right) completed her Master's in Governance course through the Monterey County Office of Education. Board President Art Galimba also completed the course, which instructs trustees on how to effectively manage the District's business.
Board President and Area 1 Trustee Art Galimba (above) attended the 6th grade promotion of Kammann Elementary.
Area 2 Trustee Angela Der Ramos gave information during her closing remarks about the "taxpayers deception act" that if passed would have a negative impact on the District's Measures G and H. She also announced her intention to resign from the Board.
Next Meeting
The next regular Board meeting takes place on July 16. All meeting agendas are posted to the District website the Friday before the meeting.

Information about School Board Meetings
The Board of Trustees establishes its meeting schedule for the coming year annually in June. Meetings are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month, with closed session occurring at 5pm and the public portion of the meeting starting at 6:30pm; the schedule is subject to change if the third Thursday of a month occurs during an official school holiday or on a national holiday.
