Congratulations to all the participants of the WMS Spelling Bee. Fritz Smith was named the Spelling Bee Champion, with Banks Formo as the Runner-Up. Fritz will compete in the Region Spelling Bee at Francis Marion University on February 3rd . We wish Fritz the best of luck! Way to represent WMS!

There were over 550 entries in the Georgetown County Holiday Card Contest this year. Our very own Caroline Stewart won Runner-Up with her design. Gabriela Morris and Haylie Wilson were recognized for their entries as being Outstanding. Congratulations to these students!

Our "Reading Wrap Up" Celebration was a great way to close the first semester and 2024. Students enjoyed Christmas cookies, visiting with friends, talking about books, and winning some prizes. Our district-wide reading program will continue in the New Year so please encourage your children to read, log, and participate every month in our reading challenges.

What an AMAZING turnout we had this year for our food drive for Baskervill Food Pantry here in Pawleys Island. Our students, teachers, parents, and community members collected 6,063 items to donate to this wonderful organization at our Winter Assembly. Mr. Milliken's Warrior Time class collected the most with 1,599 items! Thank you to everyone for making the holidays bright for so many in our community. Special thanks to MK Consulting for matching donations on Tuesday and to the National Honors Society from Waccamaw High for helping us collect donations in the car rider lines at morning drop off. Together we can and did make a difference!

Remember that schools will be closed until January 6th, 2025. Students will return on Tuesday, January 7th to begin 2nd Semester. Have a relaxing and safe Winter Break! We'll see you in the New Year Warriors!

If your child would like to join a Strength and Conditioning/Weightlifting class for Spring semester, please let Mrs. K. Williams know through a written letter or an email, kiwilliams@gcsd.k12.sc.us. We will choose students whose schedules work for the class with the least changes. We will fill this class on a first-come, first-serve basis.
