The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in the BISD Board Room on Monday, March 28th, 2022.

Thank you to Boerne High School American Sign Language students for leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.
We love having this wonderful tradition back.
Board Commendations
The Board commended Boerne ISD students and staff, as well as celebrated district-wide honors. Below are some of the honorees.
State Semifinalists
The 2022 State Semifinalist Boerne High School Boys Basketball team advanced to the Class 4-A State Final Four for the second straight season. Boerne won their fifth straight district championship, and were victorious in five playoff games to advance to the State Semifinals at the Alamodome. The Greyhounds defeated Somerset for the second year in a row to win the regional championship.
In the state semifinal the Greyhounds played a hard-fought game against Wichita Falls Hircshi, before falling in overtime to earn the State Bronze Medal.
Boerne finished another successful and historic season with a 32-7 record. They made the entire Boerne community proud once again.
The Champion Chargers State Semifinalist Boys Basketball team had a Student Council event this evening, so we will honor them at next month’s Board Meeting.
Teacher, Support Staff of the Year
Congratulations to the 2022 campus Teacher and Support Staff of the Year winners.
As the campus winner, each Teacher of the Year will receive a $1,000 stipend from Boerne ISD.
The district teacher of the year and runner-up were announced this past Saturday at BEF’s Rock on Fundraiser.
The Runner up, Fair Oaks Ranch, Courtney Klein, receives a $1,500 stipend from Boerne ISD.
2022 District Teacher of the Year, Champion's Jenny Breuer, was awarded $10,000 by Toyota of Boerne, as well as a $1,500 stipend from Boerne ISD, and other future prizes.
As the campus winner, each Support Staff of the Year will receive a $500 stipend from Boerne ISD.
The 2022 Boerne ISD Support Staff of the Year Winner was announced at the meeting, congratulations to Zulema King, from Boerne Middle School South. She received a $1,000 award from Blackboard, as well as a $1,000 stipend from Boerne ISD.

State Qualifiers
The 2022 Champion Chargers Boys and Girls Swim and Dive Team had a historic season, with 13 members qualifying for the state meet. At the state meet, Champion earned three medals, including the Girls 400 Free Relay Team of Paige Clark, Regan Garcia, Kate Deykin, and Peyton Brehmer
winning a State Championship.

The Girls placed fourth overall in the state, the best finish in school history, while the boys placed seventh.
National Merit Scholarship Finalists
Congratulations to Champion High School's 2022 College Board National Merit Scholarship finalists, Halle Vandersloot and Ethan Thornton.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition that recognizes students for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Halle and Ethan are among just 15,000 students in the U.S. who qualified as a 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist, which places them in the top 1% of all students nationwide who completed the PSAT. Typically, over 1.5 million students in about 21,000 high schools enter the National Merit Scholarship Program each year.
Ethan was unable to attend the board meeting.
Film Awards
We are proud of the 2022 Champion Audio/Visual Student State Qualifiers.
The Chargers had four films that advanced to the UIL Young Filmmakers Festival, with Rebecca Spade earning a state bronze medal for her Traditional Animation film, Longing.
Three other films made it to the state semifinals, Jacob Susser and Cooper Stannard’s Digital Animation, “Colors”, Rachel Wright and Abigail Hix’s Traditional Animation, “Glasshour”, and the team of the Documentary Stronger Together, by Jacquelyn Nevarez, Elliana Ortiz, Blake Canales, Will Wallace, Christopher Ordaz Mendoza, and Rachel Wright.
BEF 25th Anniversary
This year, the Boerne Education Foundation is celebrating 25 years as a non-profit organization supporting Boerne ISD students and teachers.
We were honored to have Texas State Senator Donna Campbell present a Texas Senate Proclamation, Texas State Representative Kyle Biedermann present a letter and resolution, City of Fair Oaks Ranch Mayor Greg Maxton present a special recognition, and City of Boerne Councilwoman Nina Woollard present a special recognition.
Dr. Price Honors Communications, BEF
The total of 14 awards includes 10 Gold Stars, as well as two Silver and Bronze Stars.
Superintendent's Report
-We have 90 bond presentations scheduled for our staff, PTO's, and community organizations. We have completed about half of the scheduled presentations.
-The bond focuses on our students, and plans for our continued fast growth, all campuses benefit from the bond, and the BISD tax rate will not increase, while taxes are frozen for residents 65 and older.
-Early voting begins on April 25th and runs through May 2nd.
Election day is Saturday, May 7th
