Pittsboro
Pittsboro is Chatham County's County Seat. When Pittsboro was founded on January 6, 1787, just south of Orange County, Pittsboro's first courthouse was built. Surrounded by inns and taverns, the public square was the place to be on "courtweeks". In 1881, a the courthouse was revised with brick. However, in 1991, it was put back to it's original appearance. Now, it is Pittsboro most famous historic place still standing.
