News from the Nest!
Hopkins Middle School 2024-2025
Greetings Eagle Families,
Spring Break is here. We hope that you have a safe, exciting, and restful break. We had an extremely busy week last week- Field Trips, Honor Roll Program, Flight Adventure Park Incentive, Student Paint Party, March of Dimes Faculty vs Student Basketball Game, and Celebrating National Assistant Principals Week. Thank you so much to everyone who attended our Title I Planning Meeting last Monday. We need you! We need your support!
It is Track Season, and our next Track Meet will be on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 (6th Grade ONLY) at Memorial Stadium at 5:45 PM and Thursday, April 24, 2025 (7th and 8th Grade) at Lower Richland High School Stadium. Please come out and support our Eagles!
Students attending any middle school athletic event or after-school performance must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The parent/guardian must stay with the student for the entire event. Students will not be admitted without adult supervision. Students must have a ticket and show their school issued student ID to attend events. Spectators will not be allowed to stand, congregate, or “hang out” on the concourse or around the concessions stands or restrooms during the game. Concession stands will close at the end of the third quarter. We look forward to seeing you there.
If your child is absent from school, please encourage your child to complete all assignments on Schoology and turn in all doctor’s notes and excuses to the main office. Student’s cell phones MUST be powered off and stored in their book bag during the instructional day. If there is an emergency, call the school’s main number 803-695-3331 to get a message to your child. If your child is sick, your child should report to the Health Room. Student's cell phones will be confiscated if they are seen or heard.
Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length. Girls wearing leggings must have a top/tunic over them that is fingertip length. NO holes, rips, cuts, and slits in jeans or shorts above the knee. Tops must cover the midriff. Hoods may not be on while in school. Students who are dress-coded will remain in ISS until appropriate clothing is delivered for them.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
At Hopkins Middle School, we have implemented a book study on
the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
The 7 Habits are:
Habit 1: Be Proactive: I am in charge of my actions and attitude.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind: I set goals.
Habit 3: Put First Things First: I work, then play. I prioritize tasks based on my goals.
Habit 4: Think Win-Win: I seek compromise and alternatives when necessary. I can advocate respectfully for my beliefs while also considering others.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood: I listen to understand rather than to respond or share my thoughts.
Habit 6: Synergize: Together is better.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw: I take care of myself physically and emotionally.
Mission Statement
We are Hopkins Middle School, a leader in transforming lives through education, empowering all students to achieve their potential and dreams.
