Launch Into Learning - Back to School Information
Hello from Mrs. Hernandez
I hope you are as eager as I am to begin the new school year and have had an opportunity to enjoy the summer days maximizing your time with family, friends, and summer events. I spent my summer days with family, enjoyed some outdoor activities, crossed off books on my reading list, and participated in leadership learning sessions. It is such a great feeling to think that soon I will see my Eagles again and meet new members joining our school family. The back to school weeks are always fun for me as I prepare to enter in my 14th year as Emmott Principal and 26 years overall in education. I look forward to serving our campus and continuing my relationships with such a wonderful community of Eagles!
Our theme this year is Launch Into Learning! We are excited to engage our students across all grade levels and establish those relationships that will lead to campus success. Shout out to our Emmott Staff who have been active as lifelong learners throughout the summer. In the next few weeks, they will be learning new curriculum for instructional engagement, collaborating with their colleagues, and developing classroom plans for a successful start.
Emmott PRIDE is our school motto where we demonstrate: Positivity-Respect-Integrity-Determination-Effort! As a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) campus our students will learn what PRIDE looks like across all areas of school and model those expectations of excellence as only Eagles do. They will participate in learning activities that will focus on building community with peers and celebrating the positive PRIDE throughout the year. Everything from our PBIS store, PBIS Reward points, PBIS celebrations, and our school-wide matrix is the way we centralize our campus expectations. The first few weeks of school our students will learn more about our school motto and understand their contribution to making our school family the best example of Emmott PRIDE. Afterall, We Can't Hide Our Eagle PRIDE!
We are still in progress with our Emmott Renovations for a safe and secure campus. The newly renovated building will offer increased measures of safety for students as they enter the learning environment. There will be procedures in place that align with safety protocols across CFISD and methods to maintain structure for all school functions. Although we are relocated at this time, I assure you the return to a newly renovated campus on August 28 will not disappoint! It is a change that brings about positive emotions while ensuring the safety of our Eagles at all times. Stay tuned for more updates about Emmott in 23-24.
On August 28 Emmott will open its doors to over 600 students ready to LAUNCH! The campus will be a fresh new look with added safety measures and surrounded by staff members waiting to embrace all things Emmott. We are not delaying our chance to prepare, decorate, and set up for our students. We are thinking outside the box for Meet the Teacher this year, because we know the importance of that first contact greeting before school. Stay tuned to the information below and on-going as the date approaches. Our teams are ready to welcome you into the new school year and take your child(ren) to new levels of success!
Thank you for understanding that some back to school activities may have to look different this year due to renovations, but certainly will be worth it.
Enjoy the remaining summer days!
Take Care,
Jessica Hernandez
Principal
Back To School Information
- School hours: Our school hours are 8:15 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.. Our doors will open at 7:55 a.m. for students and the instructional day will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m..
- First Day Arrival: All students will enter the campus by themselves and be greeted by staff members present at morning duty assignments. Staff members will be stationed all throughout our campus arrival areas, hallways, and classrooms to support incoming students as they locate teacher and grade levels. For the safety and security of all students and staff, parents will not be allowed to walk in with their child(ren). Emmott will also have PTO volunteers supporting our first day arrival procedures to ensure our students arrive to class successfully.
- Student Information: In order to help support our students on their first day, we ask all parents to label backpacks, lunch kits, and school materials with student name, teacher, and/or grade level. This labeling will help staff to assist students in directing them if needed.
- Transportation: We will have procedures focused on Car Riders, Walkers, Bikers, and Bus Riders within the next two weeks to share with our Eagles. Please remember as we work through all logistics for arrival/departure procedures that our first few days may be delayed as routines are established. More information will be shared at our Meet the Teacher.
- Going home First Day---Please send a card inside your child's backpack containing the following: Name, Address, Guardian Phone Numbers, and 1st day transportation method home. We need to make sure that we deliver our Eagles safely home on that first day and this is one additional support to ensure the transition.
Thank you for making these areas a priority for our Back to School Success!

More information will be sent out next week explaining the set up and if drop off for school supplies will be an option.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

Emmott Breakfast and Lunch - Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
Because we are a CEP campus once again this year, students will not be permitted to bring in breakfast items from outside of the school to eat in the cafeteria.
We will be encouraging all our students to eat breakfast upon arrival as part of our morning routine from the cafeteria.
Lunch Visitors
This year Emmott will establish our cafeteria procedures and set up routines for cafeteria PRIDE during all grade level lunches. As part of our goal to have effective routines in place for lunch and build community within the first nine weeks, our parent lunches will begin on Tuesday, September 26th.
We will have two days available for lunch visitors, Tuesday and Thursdays. We encourage our parent/student lunch areas to be a PHONE FREE ZONE that promotes conversations about school and allows students to share highlights of their instructional day. More information about specific guidelines for student meals and visits will be shared in our Parent Reference Guide to come.
We want our visitors during lunch to serve as active models of Eagle Pride for our students, staff, and other guests on campus.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
