Falcon Flyer
Week of 5/5/25-5/9/25
Principal's Messaage
Falcon Families
Sixth grade has wrapped up state testing and is off to camp this week! Meanwhile, students in grades 3–5 continue with state testing in math, and 5th grade will also take the science test. Please help our students do their best by making sure they get plenty of rest, arrive on time, and attend school every day.
PTA elections are coming soon! This year, our PTA played a huge role in organizing wonderful community events like Family Math Night, Literacy Night, Movie Night, the Friendship Dance, and the Spring Festival. Let’s keep that momentum going by stepping up and getting involved—no prior experience is needed!
In order to continue having a PTA, we must fill the following open board positions for next school year. If you're interested, please stop by the office, email Diana diana.bautistaespinoza@cvesd.org, our current president, or feel free to talk to me directly.

Together We Soar!
Your partner in education,
Mrs.Quiroga
Why do we need a PTA?
A PTA connects families, teachers, and the school to support student success. With a strong PTA, we can:
-
Fundraise for field trips, supplies, and programs
-
Host fun family events
-
Support and appreciate our teachers
-
Advocate for our school
-
Build community through volunteering
Join us in making a difference—together! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED
You can still order the yearbook!
Friendly Reminders
Together we soar! #Partnership
- For safety reasons, students must wear flat, close-toed shoes
- Every minute of instruction counts. If your child forgets snack, lunch, or water, do not worry. Second Chance and lunch will be provided. They also have access to water fountains. We kindly ask that you refrain from dropping off any items. Let’s work together to help our falcons build responsibility.
- Please note that if your child is not picked up on time at dismissal, you'll need to sign them out from the office.
Attendance
Attendance Matters
Let’s keep working together toward our 97% attendance goal—every day counts!
Week of 4/21 attendance average was 91.37%. Congratulations to Mr. Meier and Mr. Steller’s classes for having the highest attendance, 95.79%!
The Learning Pit
Continue to ask your child daily: Did you get into the Learning Pit? At Otay, we encourage students to use a growth mindset to face challenges, have a go at something new, try with a willingness to be confused or make mistakes along the way, and to persist in problem solving.
