Memorial Day Weekend
As we head into a our three day weekend, I would like us to remember what this weekend stands for. Memorial Day (originally known as Decoration Day[1]) is a federal holiday in the United States for mourning the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces.[2] It is observed on the last Monday of May. It was formerly observed on May 30 from 1868 to 1970.[3]
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day to honor and mourn those who died while serving in the U.S. military. Many volunteers place an American flag on graves of military personnel in national cemeteries.5th grade field trip to Sausalito! Sailing around the Bay on the Call of the Sea!

Art Docents
The Los Altos Art Docents are 78 dedicated volunteers who have taught 662 art lessons
throughout the seven schools in LASD. This year at Santa Rita, masked/vaxed docents
taught 102 lessons in the class and created monthly video lessons for the teachers to do on their own with the students.
A special thanks to Mike Wiltse for firing all the clay pieces the Santa Rita students
made throughout the year. Congratulations to one of our newest docents, Swathi
Koundinya for completing the training, look for her in the class more next year!
It’s been a great ride and we couldn’t have done it without you all!
The Art Docents welcome new members to join the next docent-in-training class in the
fall. New docents are trained on Thursday mornings starting in September. To learn
more, come to our informational coffee August 25th at 10:00 in the iLearn room at the district office.
